From the caption on one of the pictures: "Shootout: The driver (left) is seen getting an
AK pistol from his car and threatening the other man (right), who cowers on the ground behind the car".
I give up. What in the world is an AK pistol?

They meant an AR-15 Assault pistol using cop-killer bullets.

I give up. What in the world is an AK pistol? They make them, just like they make AR pistols. Short barrel, no buttstock.

A buddy of mine has one or two.
Commenters at the article are incorrect, as well, as there are such things as AK pistols. It's hard to tell, could be a folding stock rifle, or pistol, the barrel length is hard to discern from the images at the site.

There actually are AK receiver based pistols and they are fairly widely available.

An AK clone with no stock and a short barrel. You can see it clearly in the video. Obviously not full auto, though.

I give up. What in the world is an AK pistol? One of these. AK variants without a butt stock are considered to be handguns.

They do exist, just very short versions of the rifle, but with special mods that exclude them from being a short-barreled rifle under NFA regulations.
