I’ve read that a couple of times and still don’t understand what he’s upset about. If he wants her to say the pledge, just don’t sign and return the waiver.

What he is upset about, FRiend, is the destruction of our Nation and the gutting of our deeply-held values; values that once lost will never be regained in our lifetimes.

I am not confused as to what he is upset about.

You should not be confused either!

How could you not be upset? All children, teachers, administrators, cleaning and kitchen staff should be saying the pledge including the words “under God”. Why would any School District or government entity make this an issue or choice?

He's upset that in US Schools, people are being given a choice about whether or not they will affirm allegiance to the nation to which they belong.

He is of the opinion that there should be no choice. You *WILL* affirm allegiance to the nation to which you belong.

And I agree with him.

Apparently, he wants it to be mandatory for other peoples' kids to adhere to his version of patriotism.

Unfortunately for him, SCOTUS decided this decades ago.

Read my tag line, the famous quote by Edmund Burke, and then rethink your statement. The primary reason our country is going down the drain is actually not the progressives trying to destroy it, but rather the decent people who shrug off every progressive attack just so that they don't have to ever take action in response. To those for whom defending America has become inconvenient, I say you're not American in any true sense of the word.

Here’s my take on it: If someone did not want their child to recite the Pledge, that person should send in a request to the school asking for the child to be excused.

For the school to send something home is putting in backwards, as if encouraging people to opt their kids our of the Pledge.
