Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Democratic strategist and long-time Clinton booster James Carville criticized those who call into question the dealing of the Clinton Foundation under Bill and Hillary Clinton because of potential conflicts of interest.
Carville argued the pros outweighed the cons when it came to the Clinton Foundation raising money given the Clintons’ circumstances.
“Look, the good would be that we wouldn’t be gabbing about it here,” Carville said. “The bad would be that we would be out hundreds of millions of dollars that are doing good. What the Clinton Foundation does is it takes money from rich people and gives it to poor people. Most people think that’s a pretty good idea.”

“If you ask me as political adviser, of course,” he replied. “If you ask me as a human being – nah, I’m not too sure. As a human being I think [the foundation] does an enormous amount of good.”
“[S]omebody is going to hell over this because somebody – not saying here, but somewhere,” he added. “This is saving people’s lives.”

When you don’t have a viable argument against something, attack the messenger.
Hillary won’t even go down there herself...let alone send any money. Isn’t Snakehead from Louisiana? Hillary not helping out Jimmy’s fellow Cajuns?
Ha! That would suggest a true charitable purpose to her foundation and nothing could be further from the truth.

Based on these verses, things don't look especially good for Mr. Carville.

</sarcasm> But let us suppose, for the sake of argument, that the Clinton Foundation is an effective and efficient charity. Who gets the credit for that - the donors, or Hillary Clinton? Since it is not “the donor foundation” but the Clinton Foundation, obviously Hillary. Which leads us to a small problem:
If the Foundation is a slush fund for Hillary and the rest of her family, obviously it is a scam. If it is not a slush fund but actually something which Hillary can point to with justifiable pride, her name is aggrandized and “Clinton” is a title of approbation courtesy of foreign government largess.

That would be constitutional if she had asked Congress for approval and received it, but she didn’t. Obama blessed her plan to continue as a principal in the Foundation while on the federal dime - but Obama is not Congress. The Senate did confirm her nomination as Secretary of State, but the Senate is only part of Congress. And in any event, the Foundation - with Hillary as a principal - went fishing for foreign government donations wherever and whenever it could - a single a priori blanket congressional consent would have been inappropriate in any event. And would have been too fishy even for Nancy Pelosi to associate her name with.
The conclusion is that the Foundation is presumptively corrupt. There is precedent for money being presumptively corrupt; just think of how bent out of shape Congress and SCOTUS were about money corrupting politics when they were approving McCain-Feingold.
Just think, James, you finally have found a case where the seriousness of the charge actually is more important than the evidence! You should be delighted.
