I’m about halfway through watching the documentary movie “Weiner.”
He comes across as 90 to 95% a-hole, with a few, very few, redeeming features. He’s surprisingly honest to the documentary filmers, reflecting on his position. His interactions with Huma are less weird than I would have expected. That’s about it.
When he isn’t politicking, grand-standing with rivals, or sexting, he’s scheming and spinning. One of my favorite scenes is after his second fall, when he was actually leading DeBlasio in the campaign for NY Mayor, and the Sydney Leathers episode occurs. He is sitting in the car with his communications director, and she asks him what his position/answer is going to be on how many women and when. He thinks about how to spin it in a way that is consistent with his previous weasel answers to the press.
And, the scenes of him being skewered by the newpapers and comedians like Colbert and Bill Maher are hilarious.
He has that Danger Stranger look to him.

Former presidential candidate John Edwards is out of luck if he hoped that the extramarital affairs of Gov. Mark Sanford and Sen. John Ensign would take people's minds off his own cheating scandal.
Former Edwards aide Andrew Young says the ex-senator and his former mistress, Rielle Hunter, once made a sex tape, according to someone who has seen Young's book proposal.
St. Martin's Press just inked a deal with Young, who also says in his proposal that, contrary to his public statement last year, he is not the father of Hunter's infant daughter - Edwards is. Edwards has denied that.
Young says that his belief in Edwards ran so deep that he agreed to take the fall for the candidate, inviting the pregnant Hunter to live with him, his wife, Cheri, and their three children. Later, after Hunter delivered the baby, Young and his family moved to a different home in California.

Edwards accepted his June 27, 2007, honor from the Father's Day/Mother's Day Council exactly eight months before the child was born Feb. 27, 2008, according to a birth certificate obtained by the Charlotte Observer.
Before beginning his Father of the Year acceptance speech, Edwards told an adoring crowd, "I hate to admit it, but I am not the best parent in my family. ..."

''There was no doubt in my mind that this young woman had suffered severe emotional trauma,'' he said.
