The Clintoonistas throw Colin under the bus. LOL! So there you go. Maybe now he’ll figure out who his friends really are.
I’m no friend of Powell. The guy caused a lot of US military deaths in Iraq. He ‘famously’ said, “You break it, you fix it.”
What a load!
Rumsfeld did a brilliant job of dismantling Saddam Insane, but it was the State Department that insisted on nation-building. An insane notion from the start which I had opposed.
The only successful nation-buildings of a muslim state that I know of were ...
A. Turkey’s coup option [which just now failed]
B. And the separation of Pakistan from India.
One partial success was the $10,000 coup that placed the Shah in power in Iran. But it never led to a free people.
That was the kind of thing Powell should have attempted — a fortress base where we could hold influence over the oil [although I now agree with Trump — just take it because you can dole out profits from it however you please to people there], and from that fortress you could take out undesireable warlords. That was my posted plan, but during a war to belittle our efforts at the time was counter-productive.
Powell learned too little from Vietnam. We ‘nation-builded’ there too. We spared no expense propping up South Vietnam. Shipload after shipload of consumer goods.
