Couple feels targeted after Trump signs repeatedly stolen
West Hawaii Today ^ | Aiuiuig 20, 2016 | Cameron Miculka

In the more than 30 years Sandy Gray and her husband Rob Biggerstaff have lived in North Kohala, they’ve never had trouble feeling safe at home.

“I have never felt any kind of anxiety or fear or anything, and we’ve lived here all these years,” Gray said.

The couple moved to the Big Island in 1984 from Houston, in part to get away from the poor air quality there and also in hope of finding a place to grow their own food.

They found what they were looking for in Hawi.

“It was wonderful compared to what it was like in Houston,” Gray said.

But since the latter half of July, the couple said, they’ve been targeted.

On several occasions, the couple’s yard signs, which they posted in support of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, have gone missing.

It started after two signs set up alongside the couple’s pasture went missing.

Then more signs went missing, prompting Biggerstaff to secure signs to trees with washers and roofing screws.

Two of those signs were ripped from the trees, he said.

Finally, the couple’s Trump sign posted at the gate to their property disappeared.

“I didn’t think too terribly much about the first two signs being taken,” Gray said. “But then when it kept on and it got so nasty with the person going inside our fence and tearing down signs, that’s when I started feeling invaded.”

“And when we came home and saw the sign down right from our front gate, I was just shocked,” she added.

In total, seven of their eight signs have been torn down from the fence or trees.

At $20 each, that’s $140 worth of stolen property.

“It was unbelievable how it made me feel,”

Coat the signs with anthrax spores.

Dang, I'm fresh out. Oleo capsicum powder will have to do.

It’s stuff like this that will keep people from showing visible support for Trump, and/or vocally supporting him. I think the “polls” are wrong — there is more support for Trump than the pundits will admit.

Has Trump been to Alaska?

I think it would be fun to see him campaign once in Hawaii and Alaska since candidates usually don’t go there.

I’ll check out your link and see if I can post.

“It was wonderful compared to what it was like in Houston,”

Anywhere is better than Houston, except maybe Chicago on the weekends.

Don't put out Republican signs in a Democrat neighborhood.

The heat and humidity are lower, but Hawaii is like a typical 3rd world country when it comes to property rights, self defense, gun ownership ,and general hatred of Whites.

Affordable security cameras can be had. Get their picture and get the pics to the police. Chances are it’s someone in the neighborhood.

Use poison ivy or some other caustic plant oil on the sign. Another is a semi-buried board of nails around the sign.

Get a Game Cam to video the thieves.
I booby trapped Bush signs with “ Skunk Shot Gel” and razor blades.

You've got to be kidding? Razor blades? Without also attaching lots of fish hooks? If you're going after these people, you have to get serious!

During the CB fad and thefts in the 70s a local guy had two
stolen from his pickup. On number three he taped razor blades
to the back where you’d grab it for stealing and accidentally
forgot to lock the door. He figured the same thief was targeting
him.

Next morning revealed a lot of blood, fingertip parts and a radio
half pulled out of the mount.
