I’ve read all of Wolfe’s books but have to admit “The Right Stuff” was my 2nd favorite.
I didn’t like the man in “A Man in Full”——not my kind of guy. :-)

Yeah, the lead character in "A Man In Full" didn't appeal to me either. But I liked a lot of the side characters. My favorite one was Conrad, the one that went to prison and became a Stoic. Especially the part of the story when Conrad has the day from hell. While at a job interview in the city, his car gets towed and then his day gets progressively worse from there with his wife and mother-in-law ridiculing and belittling him over the phone as he gets deeper and deeper into the mess he's in.
Tom Wolfe is good at portraying somebody having a really, really bad day.
