DUTERTE SUPPORTS B.L.M.: "Why are you killing all the black people?"
Philippine Daily Inquirer ^ | 21 August 2016 | Associated Press

"PRESIDENT Duterte on Sunday lashed out at the U.S. police killings of black men in his latest outburst against critics of his anti-drug campaign, which has left hundreds of suspects dead.

The Philippines’ brash-talking President also threatened Sunday to withdraw the country from the United Nations after its human rights experts criticized the extra-judicial killings committed under his anti-crime drive.

Reacting to U.S. criticisms, Duterte cited the string of shootings involving police and black men that have sparked protests in the U.S.

“Why are you Americans killing the black people there, shooting them down when they are already on the ground?” he asked. “Answer that question, because even if it’s just one or two or three, it is still human rights violations.”

Criticisms against Duterte’s crusade against a problem that he says has become a pandemic provoked an angry outburst from Duterte, who held a news conference after midnight Saturday that dragged on for more than two hours.

The U.S. State Department and two U.N. human rights experts have urged Duterte and Filipino authorities to stop extrajudicial killings in the fight against illegal drugs and ensure law enforcement compliance with international human rights obligations. Philippine police say more than 500 drug suspects have been killed in gunbattles with police since Duterte was sworn in eight weeks ago.

Agnes Callamard, the new U.N. Special Rapporteur on summary executions, suggested that Philippine officials could be held liable, saying in a recent statement that “claims to fight illicit drug trade do not absolve the government from its international legal obligations and do not shield state actors or others from responsibility for illegal killings.”

Responding to the criticisms, Duterte pointed to the haunting image of a bloodied child being pulled from the rubble of a missile-struck building in the Syrian city of Aleppo to note the inability of the U.S. and the U.N. to stop such deadly conflicts, complaining that he comes under fire for the killings of criminals.

“Maybe we’ll just have to decide to separate from the United Nations. If you’re that rude, son of a bitch, we’ll just leave you,” Duterte told reporters in Davao, where he first built a reputation for his tough crime-busting style while serving as the southern city’s longtime mayor.

Duterte also belittled U.N. work in the Philippines without providing facts, raising questions, for example, about the performance of the world body’s agency that fights hunger.

If the Philippines breaks off from the U.N. — which Duterte called “inutile” and “stupid” — he said he would invite other countries like China and African nations to form a new international body. The U.N., he said, should return Manila’s financial contributions.

“Look at the iconic boy that was taken out from the rubble and he was made to sit in the ambulance and we saw it,” Duterte said, referring to the photo of a 5-year-old Syrian boy, Omran Daqneesh, that has gone viral online.

“Why is it that United States is not doing anything? I do not read you,” Duterte said. “Anybody in that stupid body complaining about the stench there of death?”

When asked about the possible repercussions of his remarks, Duterte replied: “I don’t give a shit about them. They are the ones interfering.”

Duterte wondered whether U.N. officials were threatening to put him in prison and repeated that he was ready to sacrifice his life and presidency for his country.

Duterte’s drug crackdown has left more than 500 suspected dealers dead and more than 4,400 arrested since he took office on June 30. Nearly 600,000 people have surrendered to authorities, hoping to avoid getting killed. The arrests have further overwhelmed the Philippines’ overcrowded jails. AP/ac/rga

The Philippine government would have made a deal similar to what the Siamese did. It certainly tried to offer the Japanese such a deal. It would have given the Japanese bases and transit rights, but left the country unoccupied and governed by its own.
That would probably have spared then Japanese hostility, atrocities, and most of the warfare.
If the choice was between the Philippines and Formosa(Taiwan) at that point, which it was, I can see the choice tilting to Formosa.
The price the Philippines paid for being on the US side was horrendous, its difficult to imagine the scale of it, even I can’t really, and I grew up on what was a battlefield, heard all my relatives tales of the war, and played on many of its ruins. I have made a lifeling collection of histories and memoirs of it.
The Philippine government had seen what was happening in China, and they were terrified thathat sort of war would come to them, if they set themselves up as enemies of Japan. They also didn’t trust the US to effectively defend them. They were entirely correct on both counts.

Come back when you find our police chiefs telling their guys to shoot unarmed black folks like you told your people to shoot dealers, Mr. President, and then we’ll talk.

Thanks - I took the information off a linked website... I should have done the old ‘two source’ thing.

It’s been posted here a number of times over the past decade. I researched it when it first popped up and found it had a few errors.

The biggest problem with it is that just having a Republican Mayor isn’t necessarily a panacea to their troubles. Sometimes they weren’t all that great. Chicago, for example, last elected a GOP Mayor in 1929. He was one of the most notoriously corrupt Mayors (a puppet of mobsters) not only in Chicago history, but in America.

Atlantic City, New Jersey, which has been in freefall for decades (and was previously a GOP stronghold before being captured by the Dems several decades ago) has a Republican Mayor (and homosexual) and certainly isn’t able to set it back on the right track. Electing anti-establishment, outside-the-box Conservatives is what is needed. Sadly, they rarely get such candidates and even when they do, almost are never elected.

I agree with everything you’ve said fieldmarshald - - good analysis. But other than the impossible (electing anti-establishment, outside-the-box Conservatives) what do we do? How do we undo a system of perverse incentives that’s created the toxic dependency of the inner city?

It may be beyond the reach of the political. It’s cultural, spiritual and moral. To so many, what is offensive, wrong and ungodly to us is completely right to them and vice-versa. They willingly and excitedly vote against their interests.

I was scrolling through some upscale neighborhoods on Google Maps in Durham, NC, just a few moments ago. The street-level pics were taken earlier this year. Plastered in these wealthy areas were scores of Bernie Sanders for President yardsigns. The very wealth that enabled these folks to be able to live in these houses would be obliterated by Sanders, who has never worked a real job for the long haul in the private sector (because he was an utter failure at it - he was even a failure when he lived at a commune because he refused to do basic chores, instead preaching the gospel of Marxism to the rubes as a way to get out of it. They, of course, kicked him out).

These folks should swap homes with the “po” on the east side of Durham and live in their shacks, hovels and slums, if they had any credibility. Gift their homes to those “disadvantaged minorities” in order to make up for their “White privilege.” Funny thing is, if that was done, those formerly rich neighborhoods would become slums in short order and the poor neighborhoods with the (former) rich Whites would become low crime and more desirable.

Most folks don’t end up destitute or in dire straits because of anything other than poor choices in their lives, being told that what’s wrong is actually right and following that bad course. It’s decades of cultural brainwashing and educational indoctrination. One political party HAS to keep Blacks and Hispanics impoverished and ignorant and perpetually aggrieved while convincing enough Whites of higher income that they should rightly feel bad for their ill-gotten gains on the backs of the “po.”

How to undo it will take decades. Too many are so deeply enmeshed into the madness that they’re a lost cause. Ending welfare at the federal and state levels is a start. Welfare should be strictly local and private. They know the people they’re dealing with and can discern those in real need (which even most hardcore anti-welfare Conservatives do not oppose) vs. those playing the system.

Getting more Conservative “Free Enterprise” types into the educational system is paramount, too. Unfortunately, public ed being a critical tool in the Marxist belt, they don’t want teachers who intend to produce excellent results (especially those of the aforementioned targeted minorities). It makes them look incompetent, if not criminally negligent. They don’t want the Jaime Escalantes, because it blows a hole in the myth of non-White students not being able to achieve (when they can with the right teachers and teaching methods).

What’s really sickening is that before the court-ordered integration of schools, most teachers in non-White schools would never have tolerated the level of ignorance and cultural rot we’ve seen on display now since the 1960s. The schools may have been woefully underfunded, but they made do with the meager resources of the era and produced better people.

The most a Conservative Mayor could do would be to focus on crime rates, which is the easy part. But getting control of education (as some have the power to do) and demanding much higher standards is much harder, because teachers and the unions will fight like hell to keep things status quo except for increasing their salaries and benefits. They make out like bandits and the kids (and the parents paying for them through their taxes) get robbed and left for dead.

Anyway, whole books have been written about the subject. The way to solve them isn’t impossible, but the system itself is the immoveable force that doesn’t want change, because it puts the bad guys out of business.

If everyone had an IQ over 150 and functioned within a strong ethical framework, Sanders and Marx’s ideas might work for a generation before devolving into totalitarian rot. It’s still a big ‘might’...

Curiously, in a handful of American cities, notably Milwaukee, over a century ago the Socialist Party found success as an advocate for corruption-free “good government” (opposed to the political machines of the Democrats and Republicans that ran so many cities). Sort of based on the German model of efficiency and delivering of public services. It did work for a little while, but with time, it eventually got subsumed by the Democrat Party.

While they could get away with civic governance, it was when the Socialist Party got involved with national and international issues of the day was where they got into serious problems, especially during WW1 where they were anti-war/pro-German (the Socialist Congressman from Milwaukee at the time, Victor Berger, was sentenced to prison for the violation of the Espionage Act).

Where that differs from Sanders’ viewpoint today is that Sanders has a ludicrously unfeasible stance that you can merely tax the hell out of the rich (again, the irony that so many rich whites support him isn’t lost) as if it would pay for all of his multi-trillion dollar plans. There simply aren’t enough rich people, even if you took everything they had. This, of course, comes from someone who has never had practical experience in the private sector, so he can be as dogmatic as he wants to be. An excellent test, if Vermont was so inclined, would be to elect him Governor. It would be an epic fiasco, and a well-earned one for the state. The current radical Socialist Democrat Governor isn’t running for another term this year because his agenda was such a failure that he nearly lost to a complete Republican nobody in 2014.

I don’t think Bernie would want to run for Governor, because deep down he has to know he could never deliver on his promises in an executive capacity without utterly crippling Vermont and driving existing businesses out of state. It’s far easier to stay a Senator, railing in favor of whatever trendy leftist moonbat scheme du jour. He doesn’t have to deliver anything (and in his 26 years in Congress, he has almost zero accomplishments to his name, aside from naming a couple post offices). Of course, that’s on the people of Vermont stupid enough to put up with this fool for so long.
