A bit of virtue seeking on the part of the Good Counselor, methinks.

I’ve been in bar fights where I was hit with a bottle and I didn’t tremble. I hit back.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Way back in my drinking days, I got hit across my nose with a beer bottle, went to the E.R. after the fight and they strapped me to a table, strapping my head too, then they gave me a shot up my nose, then put a little spoon like instrument up my nose and gave it a yank.

Getting hit with the beer bottle was a piece of cake compared to the E.R. table. Good thing I was drunk for the procedure.

When I’m called a cracker, I don’t tremble. I proudly agree. Although, “honky” makes me tremble with laughter.

Tell me what they are saying! Old people like myself sometime can’t hear too well ( mostly because we don’t care about the opinion of idiots who live in mom’s basement). :-)

"I was trembling"

Sounds like this little petal needed a "safe space".

Just saw another one from the NYTimes about a young waitress who got a mean note instead of a tip because she is an illegal immigrant. Must be an epidemic (of propaganda, that is).

We have a African American fellow in an all white neighborhood that walks his big ol all white pitbull evey morning. Yesterday I heard him command the dog to sit. The dogs name is “Cracker”.

Shuman is not only a pajamaboy, he’s a giant hypocrite. Here is his letter to the editor of a local paper, “appalled” (apparently his favorite emotion) that a contract limited the free speech rights of a public employee (link: http://www.pennlive.com/opinion/2013/09/susquehanna_superintendents_contract_shouldnt_muzzle_the_board_pennlive_letters.html ):

I am appalled that any board member would agree by contract to muzzle his or her criticism of a public employee, that any solicitor would permit his client to sign such a document, and that Susquehanna Township has a superintendent who felt it necessary to seek and then hide behind such terms.

The school board and the superintendent set the tone for discourse in our public schools. Think of the message they have sent to our children.

In 1927 Justice Brandeis wrote:

“Those who won our independence believed that the final end of the State was to make men free to develop their faculties…. They believed that freedom to think as you will and to speak as you think are means indispensable to the discovery and spread of … truth; that, without free speech and assembly, discussion would be futile; that, with them, discussion affords ordinarily adequate protection against the dissemination of noxious doctrine; that the greatest menace to freedom is an inert people; that public discussion is a political duty, and that this should be a fundamental principle of the American government.”

Dr. Kegerise’s contract, an agreement between a public entity and a public employee, is a shameful abdication of responsibility and a shameful repudiation of these core First Amendment principles.

Two quick antidotes:

I was renting a Hertz car at LAX and the black lady behind the counter was being as nasty as could be. BIG CHIP on her shoulder. I said, “You have quite an attitude don't ya’?” After that she was nice as could be. Some people just need calling out.

On a business trip to SC I stopped at a Burger King. The black girl behind the counter seemed very annoyed with everything I did or said. Rolling eyes, sighing, etc. I thought it odd as I was being very nice. I sat and watched while eating. Every white person that came up got the same treatment. Every black person that was waited on was treated with a smile and courtesy.

Just the way it is with some people.

You reminded me of another incident involving black attitude toward white people. A few years ago, I was beside myself with anger when I retrieved my brand new suitcase from a luggage carousel when returning from a trip. This was the first time I had ever used the suitcase, a big wheeled number. The zipper had not only been opened, it had been ripped from the fabric. My belongings were falling out of the now uncloseable suitcase. Can you say TSA? I used a tie strap to close it the best I could, hauled it onto a rental cart and took it to the airline’s baggage claim. The black woman behind the counter kept singing rock songs as I described what I found on the carousel. I asked her to please stop singing, as it annoyed me and I was already upset enough. So she sang ALL THE LOUDER. Really mature, right? She then turned her name plate around so I couldn’t read it (I already had, loser) and proceeded to be as nasty as possible, drawing out what was already an unpleasant incident to a very “ha-ha-I-got-you-under-my-power” trip for her. Well ha-ha on HER. I retrieved my camera from my backpack and photographed the suitcase from all angles. I then went home and wrote a letter to the president of the airline, whose stock was in the tank. I asked him, with his airline’s stock in the sub-basement, is this really the kind of person you want representing your airline? I actually received a personal letter from him apologizing and promising action on this employee, who I hope is a former employee. Wow, she was really very purposely being nasty and making an upset passenger even more so.
