THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

IRVING BERLIN

”ALL BY MYSELF”

This 1921 tune came from Irving’s “Music Box Revue” of that year. The lyrics were a bit mawkish, and they worked best when de-emphasized, as in this fine jazz rendition. Take a look at the names of the Bob Cats, which included some of the best sidemen in the game.
