Manafort was brought in to serve as “convention manager” — a position from which he “will oversee, manage, and be responsible for all activities that pertain to Mr. Trumps delegate process and the Cleveland Convention.” Which he did, superbly.
He joined Trump because he felt he could help, and declined a salary. But he was never hired as Campaign Manager and it might have been the plan all along to bring in communications experts like Kellyanne and Bannon at this stage. I don’t know, but neither does anyone else.
The name of the game from here thru Nov. is “communications”.
