“This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign. I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success.”

It is tough being the boss and then taking advice from other people and then not being the boss. In my short experience in politics I don’t think candidates trust their gut as much as they should. The bring in these “experts” and a lot of times it turns against them. I’ve seen candidates lose leads because they take the advice of the “experts.” Just my two cents.

Hillary must be giddy.

I found a good article. As far as I can determine, he was a lobbyist working with people who were allies of the US.

I'm gonna wait and see.

Trump understands that there are many parts to this campaign, like building a sky scrapper, the company doing the foundation isn’t going to be the same company doing the steel skeleton, the company doing the skeleton isn’t going to be the same company doing the electrical work, the company doing the electrical work isn’t going to be doing the plumbing

That is what is going on here

Trump is using the best people a specific task or goal.

We call that smart leadership

Trump took it only because he doesn't want the distraction.

I'm sure the Dems are giddy.

Here's the difference....Hillary lost her 3 top dogs because of the emails....with proof of her evil empire.

Manafort has not been proven guilty of anything. He was a lobbyist. They're going back 25 years in some cases.

Hillary is either still asleep or on the can.

My gut tells me that this was a mutually agreed upon move to take the Ukraine situation off the table. Paul Manafort served his main purpose when Trump was nominated at the convention.

I know that Donald Trump and Paul Manafort have been longtime friends and I'm sure that they will continue to support each other going forward.

That is big, but the elephant in the room was Manafort’s brewing “scandal” of his Russian/Ukraine consulting, which was a bomb ready to explode. Trump didn’t need that.

I suspect this is to shield the campaign from the Ukraine payment related issue.

Given his influence, he will now have a Roger Stone-like role (i.e. still working for the campaign from the outside).

Manafort took one for the team. He knew his work in the Ukraine was going to be used against Trump.

I totally agree. Psul might actually be more effective in that role than he could be inside. Also it’s a good time for the shift to general election mode.

Exactly. Manafort did exactly what he was supposed to do, and now that job is done and we move on to other things.

But don’t count on the NeverTrumpers or the LSM to make that much sense.

He’s doomed, doomed, DOOMED! Didn’t you know?

“Hillary is either still asleep or on the can”.

Don’t leave out undergoing a diaper change, that is always a possibility!

Hard to trust your gut if you think it can’t be trusted.

I think Manafort can only take the campaign so far. With the new team in place, expect a much more mature, highly-focused campaign detailing Hillary's many downsides (particularly the Clinton Foundation debacle) and Trump defining what he will do to unite a country ripped apart by the Alinsky-style "divide to create conflict" tactics used by Democrats.

In fact, don't be surprised within a few weeks we'll see ads from the Trump campaign talking about just what a bad influence on the USA Saul Alinsky was, particularly the book Rules for Radicals. And it will note both President Obama and Hillary Clinton were strongly influenced by Alinsky.

Trump is going to go with what got him where he is - his instincts.

Can’t say I blame him, or that it’s a bad strategy.

Precisely.
