We have our tickets also....
Handicap parking is on the top deck of the “NASCAR Hall of Fame” across the street. there is a bridge over the street to the Charlotte Convention Center.
A note on your arrival.. (5:30-6:00)you may not make it in.. even thought you have tickets, it's “first come first served”
We are from Rock Hill about 20 mi south and we'll be arriving around 3-3:30....Doors open at 4:30.
Trump is scheduled to speak at 7:30.

If you want.. drop me a private reply and I’ll give you a contact number and we'll be able to prevent any surprises for you

Thank you, Robe. I appreciate the local perspective. I also appreciate the efforts of other FReepers who advised me to check with the venue, like I hadn’t already done that. I did manage to get all the basic info I need, but it never hurts to get tips from locals when going into unfamiliar territory. Like backup parking. If the NASCAR Hall of Fame lot is full, I don’t want to have to wander around aimlessly looking for a place to park. And maybe a FReeper knows the best entrance to use for preferred seating. Or some other tip I wouldn’t know to ask until after we’ve been there. And if you get there before us, and find that they’ve blocked off an entrance, or there’s riots at the MLK entrance, or somebody painted a mural of Helen Thomas over the College St. entrance, these are things I’d like to know ahead of time.

I’m glad Hubby and I got to meet you and the beautiful Mrs. Robe. I would have liked to spend more time with you, but Hubby acts pretty impulsively these days. He pushed his way to the front, with me trying to catch up, apologizing all the way. But everyone was so nice about it. They even tried to sneak him into the VIP section, but by then I had caught up and ruined his fun. LOL.

I took some pictures and video, none of which turned out good. (Except some pictures of Hubby, but I’m not sharing them here.) I did get an 11 second video of Trump right after he got to the mic, with the crowd cheering. It’s not great, but not too bad. I uploaded it to tinypic.com. When I tried to play the upload, it had converted to some format not compatible with my iPhone. Here’s a link. http://tinypic.com/r/n54fpz/9 . Maybe it will work for you.

That was a strange venue. To get there from the parking garage, we had to go up and down three different elevators. The stairs and escalators seemed to go a different route. When we arrived at the rally, we were on the wrong side of the security checkpoint, with the people who had already been cleared. The Secret Service was baffled as to how we pulled that off. I was baffled as to how the SS could be unaware of the accessible route from the parking garage. I hope President Trump restores our Secret Service to their former glory.
