Marco Rubio stands by calling Trump a 'con artist,' still supports him

(CNN)Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is standing by his description of Donald Trump as "a con artist," but he says in a new interview he still plans to support the real estate mogul for president.

"I've stood by everything I ever said in my campaign," Rubio told the Miami Herald editorial board Monday when asked about his comments made during the Republican presidential primary earlier this year.

He said the race is "in a different place now" -- with voters facing a "binary choice" between Trump and Hillary Clinton. "In our republic, while the presidency is powerful, there is a balance of power in this country, and a significant amount of it resides in the United States Senate," Rubio said. "It's one of the reasons why I seek to run again."

Miami people may be able to discern con artists easier than others, as they have so many in their midst.

Who is Beruff? Is a majority no longer required there for a primary nomination?

Look, I have said for a long time that the BALANCE in our federal government doesn’t need to be JUST Republicans over Democrats, but ALSO Congress over the Executive and its bureaucracies.

Article I Section 1 of the Constitution gives “ALL” legislative powers (which are limited in themselves) to CONGRESS. No law making powers are granted to the Presidency or to the bureaucrats appointed by that office.

I think the drift began in earnest sometime during FDR’s second term (anyone better versed in history feel free to correct)...but Congress began to be complicit in creating federal agencies that essentially were granted authority to create rules, regulations, and requirements that have the FORCE of law even though the elected representatives have not expressly approved them.

We need to move back toward a federal government where the Congress legislates and the Executive enforces. Right now the Executive does both and the Congress just rubber stamps the tax money. Absurd.

Beruff is running against Rubio as a Trump Republican. Who knows it will be on the Democrat side.

Rubio, Ryan and Cruz are all political opportunist trash. None of them give a damn about this country and I hope they burn in hell for their lies and deceit.

Rubio, meet Mr. Kettle.

Of course the kettle is black. The pot's being that way has nothing to do with it.

Having been a FL resident for 16 years, I think Rubio is the biggest con artist of them all.

What you all say about Rubio is true, but I see it this way - he IS supporting Donald Trump and DOES say so. So to me, of the two little Cuban chihuahuas, Rubio is the better man.

Rubio needs to be shown the door.
He had his chance to betray the citizens.
Don’t give him another.
