Democratic nominee Hillary R. Clinton leads in a four-way contest with 42 percent of the vote, compared to Donald J. Trump with 37 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson with 9 percent, and 3 percent for Green Party nominee Dr. Jill Stein, according to a Breitbart/Gravis national poll conducted Aug. 9 with 2,832 likely voters.

I don’t understand how people can vote for Hillary. But I didn’t understand how they could vote for Obama.
9 percent undecided and Trump’s protest party gets 9 while Clinton’s protest party gets 3.
When push comes to shove, I think 5% of the undecided stay home, 3% go to Trump, 1% goes to Clinton and 2/3rds of the protest votes come home to their respective candidates. That gives Trump 46% and Clinton 45%.
A very tight race.

Yes. The third world (er, third party) votes will matter. Like they did the past two Clinton victories.
I posted yesterday that i believe Trump is truly down about 5. I can believe this poll and most of the others in this range. I said yesterday that we can talk about D+’samples, skews, etc but the fact is he’s down a few. I also posted that historically speaking somebody is usually up consistently through August. Dukakis in 1988 was still up 7 at the end of August. Algore was up as much as 10 in September. Bush was up most of the summer in 2004. Clinton was up 20+ thrroughout the summer before winning by 6. Point is, Trump has some work to do against a biased media, but he has 86 days to do it. About 56 if you take early voting into consideration. For as bad as the assault has been, we have 2 polls today, Gravis and MC showing 5 and 6 pt leads in a 4 way. This is much better than the picture we were looking at just a few days ago.

Simple...he is the non-guilt vote for Republicans who won’t vote for Trump and would be ashamed to vote for Clinton or not vote at all.

I wouldn’t call a 5% deficit in August losing . In fact , Trump is in good shape for all the bad media he’s been getting

Down 5-7 and not having put a commercial on yet? Not bad. Plus my very liberal mom is constantly sending me newspaper articles and links that are so negative about Trump. Imagine the low info voters being inundated with this in the last 2 months. Hopefully Trump unloads with ads and the debates before early voting starts
