I’m inclined to view this as chaff.
Didn’t we learn earlier this week that the higher-ups at the DOJ have quashed attempts by the FBI and lower-echelon U.S. attorneys to pursue investigations into the Clinton Foundation, saying, in effect, “We already looked at it in 2015”?
There were multiple threads on the subject.
Which leads me to take this story as a means to lull people into complacency, assuming “someone is looking into it, so we should wait and see what the findings are and stop agitating — we’ve gotten what we wanted.”
If this represented an actual threat, Team Clinton would be attacking the investigation as biased, partisan unfair... etc
That has been their MO from day minus 1 when dealing with real investigations into their wrongdoing.
