Libertarians are not a recognized party in Ohio. The way Johnson plans to get on the ballot is to use a placeholder, former Ohio candidate for governor Charlie Earl, on petitions to get on the ballot, then switch the name to Johnson once they are accepted. The legal status of this tactic is questionable and will be under review by the SOS's office.

Tactics like this make one wonder whether this is all supported behind the scenes with money and legal support by the Clinton camp.

They’re entitled. That doesn’t mean that they should be supported. But let them try.

They’re not a recognized party in New York either, and New York has 8 parties.
