A female U.S. sailor was recognized last week for her efforts during the January incident that resulted in Iran detaining 10 Americans.
Military.com reports the only female among the two crews of the Navy riverine boats that entered Iranian waters off Farsi Island in the Persian Gulf managed to activate an emergency beacon while she was kneeling, bound, and being held at gunpoint with her colleagues.

“Why didn’t “Yellerbacks” Kerry & 0bammy say anything about that?”p>Kerry did. He thanked the Iranians for their assistance. Spit.
Courage is when you are very, very, scared (terrified) and still do the right thing. If you’re not scared, you’re not courageous.
She was 2nd gunner on the boat... wonder why she couldn’t pull the trigger when the Iranians were getting too close for comfort? ....In her defense, I DID read where the Coxswain (Captain?) said he didn’t want to get his gunner killed BECAUSE HE FLINCHED.
I was in the Navy, and in the Reserves, and was in a small boats unit. I would have been scared.
With such mystery surrounding the entire incident, this real life female superhero shtick is a shoo in for a movie. Calling BS on the story.
Bingo!
Look for Demi Moore to buy the movie rights

The investigation found that Nartker failed in many of the expectations that the Navy had of him. But the Navy also reported the lieutenants relative inexperience, low rank at the time and the extreme situation should be put in the context of the lack of oversight or mentorship his commanders had afforded him.
Wait a minute. David Nartker is a Lieutenant, not some green ensign with one week of active service under his belt. Nartker has been on active duty for several years. Its his job to make tough decisions and to show courage. Its also his job to look out for his crew. He failed at every task given to him.
Younger men than Nartker, with much less experience and without the prized Annapolis training have performed heroically throughout the history of the Navy. The Navy needs to stop making excuses for the poor conduct of its officers.
Lastly, the report found that the female gunner should receive proper recognition for her extraordinary courage in activating the emergency beacon while kneeling, bound and guarded at Iranian gunpoint, at risk to her own safety.
I’m holding out for a TV series staring some frail female weighing no more than 110 soaking wet - scenes of which will certainly make it vastly popular with the millennial male crowd.
Thanks for the info. Based on your post, it seems like the female sailor was deserving of a medal. Right?
None of us knows what happened.
We are at the mercy of a purged military for information.
That info is then reconstructed by an unreliable media.
In no way am I praising or disparaging the sailor in question....I just do not believe this story at this point.
If in the future this sailor should appear at a Clinton event however.......
Cowardice and Incompetence in the Persian Gulf The US Navy has Severe Problems

Lastly, the report found that the female gunner should receive proper recognition for her extraordinary courage in activating the emergency beacon while kneeling, bound and guarded at Iranian gunpoint, at risk to her own safety.
Apparently, the female gunner in Nartkers crew was the only one who seemed to understand their duty and who exhibited courage.
The fallout from the incident has already resulted in the removal of the commodore and executive officer responsible for the vessels, Capt. Kyle Moses and Cmdr. Eric Rasch.
A third officer who was in charge of the detachment in Kuwait, who was not named, was also relieved of command, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson announced Thursday in a news briefing on the investigation findings.
The incident in the Persian Gulf last January should be a wake-up call for the US Navy. Not only were the sailors and officers in question lacking in training, they also had a desultory mentality toward maintenance of their equipment. When called upon to act courageously, they conducted themselves poorly and disgraced their service and their country while in captivity.
The US Navy has severe problems. This incident may have been isolated, but it speaks volumes about the declining readiness and warrior spirit in our military.
Should we be surprised? This is the type of military you get when the White House and the Pentagon are more focused on social engineering than training for war
Can you say ‘Jessica Lynch? Yep, I’m getting a whiff of BS about this story, too. Lefties wanting another female hero.....much like Clinton wanting Hijab-woman to carry the American flag to show the world our respect for ‘Diversity’. Phony, phony, phony.
...gotta be room in that script for a trans and a homo couple... Oscars here they come!
I have no clue about deserving a medal.
But turning on the beacon was a good thing. Why didn’t those big super duper male sailors do it?
She must be a Democrat, so they’ll give her the Navy Cross or Silver Star, or both.
Probably a Lesbian too, that would be the Trifecta.
Now THAT’S a sarc tag!
This was the first incident of our Government paying to get hostages released from Iran.
Read this from 6 weeks ago. Why didn’t the super duper, far superior male sailors NOT turn on the beacon? Why did they leave the job to the little lady sailor?

Unlikely. It only takes a couple of days to get a tan.
