Negative ads work. However they are most effective when used 2 weeks or so in advance of the election. I think Trump is letting Hildebeast spend her money now and then he will put his ads up closer to voting day. I think he has made $11 million in ad buys or something g close to that.
That belies what actually happens. If that were true than the democrats wouldn’t spend money now. They would just buy up every ad slot from October through to the election. Negative, early image ads work. History proves that. A late media blitz against Hillary will have no effect whatsoever.
That's not true anymore. With early voting and mail-in ballots, people start voting as much as a month before the election. If he waits much longer, there will be a lot of voter's remorse, but they'll still be hillary votes. What he should be doing is giving minority and other pockets with a lot of voters that should logically support Trump talking points before people start their autumn schedules.
The Dems have used negative ads in advance to good effect in presidential campaigns previously—where they can define a candidate negatively before the GOP gets in gear.
The only thing about waiting until that close to the election is that so many people vote early, and states are moving it earlier all the time.
