Homeschooling Not Lawful? [California]
HSLDA ^ | July 25, 2016 | Mike Smith, HSLDA President

Posted on 08/09/2016 1:24:03 PM PDT by fwdude

Just when we thought the right to homeschool had been firmly established in California, all of our members in the San Benito High School District received a letter saying, "[U]nder California Law, a home school is not a private school, nor is it a lawful alternative to public school … ."

The private school exemption has been used by California homeschoolers since the revival of the movement in the late ’70s. Many school districts and the California Department of Education took the same position that the San Benito High School is now taking. But despite years of official opposition in numerous places in a variety of ways, HSLDA successfully advocated for many families whose homeschooling was challenged by school districts and other public agencies.

Increasingly, the left pretends that what is in effect is what they wish were the case, not what the law actually says.

California now provides home schooling tools.

Good luck trying to make the case it isn’t legal.

It certainly is.

They cannot bear the thought of children not in their grasp being taught real American history and learning concepts like individual freedom and self reliance.

I just read what was on the site.

This whole thing proves that one of two things is true:

1. Representatives of the school district are not very thorough.
2. Representatives of the school district hope you are not very thorough.

In my one visit to Californicatia, I was not impressed.

And this was supposed to be one of the prettier parts of the state (Anaheim.)

It has spoken. Home schooling is legal in California.

"State" can refer to any overruling governing body, such as a school district. In this case, the San Benito district DID send notices that Homeschooling is not legal. Whether right or wrong, we know what they want.

If we must imagine that Roe vs. Wade is somehow the "law of the land" just because SCOTUS says so. then a 1920s' SCOTUS case, Pearce vs. the Society of Sisters also is the "law of the land" and that 7-2 decision provided that the education of children is uniquely up to their parents so long as very basic education is provided (e.g. English, Math, History, a bit of Science) and according to parent-chosen curriculum.

That was a case in which the State of Oregon (briefly dominated by Ku Klux Klan politicians) tried to force ALL children into Klan dominated gummint skewels. That directly affected Catholic schools which the Klan despised but the SCOTUS went further to empower the parents themselves to decide and that would protect homeschooling.

They really hope you are not well educated enough to know the legalities of homeschooling!

It’s part of the plan. Notice, in spite of USC/UCLA, etc., California has the bulk of H-1B visas “because they can’t get homegrown talent”!

Just deposit your children in the drop slot at the local Indoctrination Center. You can pick them up when they turn 18 and begin paying for their advanced indoctrination!

What they really cannot abide is the loss of all that delicious ADA money.
If I recall correctly the school districts get about 156$ per day when your kid shows up for what they call classes.
Were you aware that in most high schools they no longer even teach American History; instead they have politically correct classes that teach how EVIL the founding fathers were, and that it was only blacks that created science, all modern technology, and even the atom bomb.
