Ex-CIA officer launches presidential campaign aimed at thwarting Donald Trump

A former CIA case officer who has served as top policy aide to House Republicans is launching an independent campaign for the presidency on Monday with the backing of veteran GOP strategists and donors determined to block Donald Trump of getting anywhere near the White House.

Feeding off mounting discontent within GOP ranks over Trump, Evan McMullin — who is resigning today as chief policy director for the House Republican Conference — will announce his campaign with an open “Letter to America” aimed at rallying independents and conservatives to his cause.

“It’s never too late to do the right thing, and America deserves much better than either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton can offer us,” McMullin , 40, said in his announcement statement. “I humbly offer myself as a leader who can give millions of disaffected Americans a conservative choice for president.”

Although the candidacy of a political unknown with no experience in electoral politics seems improbable at best, strategists working with Better for America, a group that has been dedicated to stopping Trump, told Yahoo News that they believed the McMullin campaign has a genuine chance to catch on. The group claimed that he even has a plausible path to victory through a deadlocked race that ultimately goes to the House of Representatives to resolve if neither Trump nor Clinton gets the required 270 electoral votes.

I’m ashamed to think this guy actually worked for the CIA. I wonder why he’s an “EX” CIA officer (40) and why he believes that a corrupt Marxist Clintoon presidency would be good for America. He sounds like some kind of freaky jerk to me.

I admit to initially feeling that same sentiment, though I have to temper it. I don’t want them to expire, I just want them to go away, and he has.

If only Carter would be as quiet.

IMHO this doesn’t hurt Trump. This idiot will only attract hard core nevertrumpers and Hillary voters. These are people who never had any intention on voting for Trump in the first place.

“Isn’t it interesting that the Republicans (#Never Trumpers), just want to give the election to Hilary!”

Actually, giving the election to Clintoon II has been their pos all along.

The Senate only votes for the VP guy (top two).

You should note....in the House, where they vote for the President and the top three...they must vote as a state. So if there are six representatives from that state (3 Dem and 3 Rep)....unless there is some agreement, there is a balanced vote, and the state’s vote is worthless. Last time I counted, there were eight states where it’s balanced out. So you’d could be talking about a pretty simple vote and taking less than 30 minutes to accomplish.

The only viable “anti-Hillary” out there is The Donald.

If you are not with him, you are against him.

And to be against The Donald, is to be, by default, in FAVOR of Herself.

I have difficulty in even getting my mind around this concept of Herself as President. Perhaps we do need to put a person of the female gender into the Oval Office.

Just not Herself. Herself is cuffing nuts.

I think Anderson was a decent person even if wrong on many issues. Glad he’s hanging in.
