Trip, in the movie “Glory.” One of the other soldiers asks him what he had been doing since he escaped the plantation. He says, “I’ve been running for President of the United States.” The other soldier gives a confused look. Trip says, “I didn’t win, though.” The difference between Trip and McMullin is that Trip knows it’s a joke.
