Synopsis of this brouhaha:
Trump makes a statement about a video he remembers -— everyone piles on and calls him a liar, and then he questions himself about it and tries to verify his memory. It looks like the video he was remembering had still pictures of the plane and the money, and instead he might have conflated that memory with seeing the hostages come off the plane. Still not 100% positive, like most of our memories as we think back -— but folks are now digging out a truth that none of us had any idea about just a few days ago -— and who knows what they will eventually find.
He saw the same video we all did of the white private plane and it was shown as one that took 400 million in Euros and Francs. The outlets that reported it later seem to have recanted saying that was the one the hostages were sent back in. He was following the story like others.
At least that’s how I understand it.

There is a reason why the footage showing a pallet has a blurred out portion. The naughty Iranians lifted the footage from a 1991 video showing the procedures inside the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
