Talking about the subjects Trump is bringing up, I mistakenly used "not" instead of "now," in "not the ransom payment." Oops!!
Remember this election well, it seemed to be a nail biter right up to election week. There were some differences, the big one being inflation running about 15% and Paul Volker using the Fed Funds rate to combat it. This was when the government was considerably more honest in reporting economic/financial data.

The Iowa Republican predicted that rumors of a Trump exit are likely only to get louder: "Talk of Trump dropping out will reach a fevered pitch next week, when his poll numbers bottom out," the Republican said. "We need to brace ourselves."
That is just a sampling. Many more similar sentiments expressed. Nothing new.
