Republicans Consider Next Steps After News of Obama Administration Cash Transfer to Iran
The Daily Signal ^ | August 03, 2016 | Josh Siegel

Republicans in Congress are criticizing President Barack Obama’s administration for its approval of a $400 million delivery of cash to Iran on the same day the country released four American prisoners and formally implemented the nuclear deal.

Though the administration says the timing of the $400 million money transfer was coincidental, and part of a resolution of a failed arms deal between the two countries that dates to the Iranian revolution, critics say that a link between the payment and the prisoner exchange is undeniable.

“The claim that the timing is coincidental is beyond unbelievable,” said Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., an outspoken critic of U.S. policy toward Iran. “It is clear at this point that one of two possibilities apply to this administration: either the president has absolutely no idea what he is doing or the president knows exactly what he is doing and is playing for some other team.”

I understand it included interest. How was that interest calculated? Was it “sequestered” in CD’s, Government Bonds, Artwork?

How much money do we have “sequestered” from other countries and how far back does this “sequestering” go. Is it possible we owe England money that was “sequestered” during the Revolution?

Where does this end?

First thing to do is not ever again refer to it as that bland amorphous thing “cash transfer” but just “ransom”. The term “Blood money” should be occasionally tossed in when discussing it.

Across 37 years the very DAY that the money is transferred is the very day of hostage release, and they want to pretend there is no connection???? Obozo thinks we will buy anything, and based upon the squalid performances of Congress and the MSM he has every reason to despise them.

1. They will protect McCain’s IRS attacks on conservatives.
2. They will protect their OWN EXEMPTIONS for SEC
and ObamaCARE
3. THEY WILL PROTECT THEIR ARMING OF AL-QAEDA

They will orate, bloviate, and pontificate. Nothing more. No action, no results.

Situation normal for the Do Nothing Party.

Repeal the law that says ransom and tribute can't be US currency, so the taxpayer doesn't have to pay currency conversion fees to the banks for the next cash ransom payment.

Seriously, Congress is worse than useless. It is the most substantial part of the problem. It certainly doesn't hold itself accountable, it transfers its power to the executive, courts and administrative agencies, and does nothing but play day trader in the markets on insider information, and "oh so concerned" for public show. It's a den of thieves, nothing more.

The Republicans will let the clock run out on Bammie.

August recess coming up, then two months to election time, then the lame duck session.

Throw in Thanksgiving and Christmas recesses and 1/20/17 will be here before you know it.

Here’s an explanation of the Shah’s government money held by the US, in case you’ve missed the controversy:

http://www.businessinsider.com/whats-in-irans-100-billion-in-frozen-assets-2015-7

...After the eventual release of the hostages in 1981, tentative talks began over the disposition of assets in the U.S. that had been frozen by President Carter in 1979...

...For instance, the former Iranian embassy in Washington was impounded by the United States and rented out, as were 10 other properties in various locations. The real estate and accumulated rent is estimated to be worth $50 million.

At the time of the 1979 revolution, Iran’s deposed government had been waiting on the delivery of some $400 million in military equipment, for which it had already paid. The Pentagon later re-sold that equipment and the money was placed in an escrow account...

The money laundering angle should be hit hard. U.S. law prevents dollars going to Iran. Obama exchanged taxpayer dollars for Euros and Swiss Francs and sent pallet loads of cash to Iran. Trump and Republican leaders should be blasting sending taxpayer dollars to Iran and questioning the legality of laundering dollars to foreign currency to get around the law.

Stories in the press have noted DOJ opposition to the transactions, but the stories have said that DOJ opposition was based on the fact it would give the appearance of ransom being paid. I’m betting the DOJ also questioned the legality of laundering dollars, but those memos have probably been shredded by now.

The cash belonged to the Shah’s Iran and it had been sequestered, I believe by administrative action. So it wouldn’t necessarily need Congressional approval.

We've been literally holding 400 million dollars in Iranian cash since the 1970s???

How did we get it?

Tom Cotton’s on it. He wrote a letter to the administration asking about the timing and nature of the payment.

Clearly the GOPe wants support from the media, so if they trash trump the media will "like" them. And besides, paying ransom to terrorists, no big deal.

1) Cash is not traceable and can be material support for terrorism.
2) Used unmarked bills of foreign currency - why?
3) Loaded on unmarked plane and flown in the night. Why are they hiding this transfer of so called “legitimate” funds?
4) Ransoms are illegal. Iran said it was ransom. Delivered at time of prisoner release. B/c amount of money was identical to the 30-year old issue, O had “cover” for the ransom deal.

Today’s Rico re Laundering = misuse of the financial system, in this case, clouding the source of money by not identifying it’s origins. So it looks like laundering, Looks like treason to me. Treason= funding and aiding enemies of the USA, if Iran legally so seen.
