He DESPISED them.

He wanted higher taxes on them to DESTROY them.

It’s hard to make an “us vs. them” and “you’re being unstoppably oppressed” argument, the basis of Marxism, when reality shouts it’s really “us vs. them vs. some other people who succeeded”
