Vu will be on the November ballot as an elector – a constitutionally mandated stand-in for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Should Trump take Georgia, Vu will be one of 16 Georgia members of the electoral college who will formally decide the U.S. presidential contest.

Vu has just put out a statement saying that he cannot bring himself to vote for Trump in the November general election. And he might not vote for Trump as a member of the electoral college, either.

I seem to recall reading that the last time a member of the electoral college voted against the candidate he was committed to was in 1972, Nixon v. McGovern.

Trump may be the very last Republican I ever vote for. If he loses, I’m out, simply not going to ever vote again...it won’t matter and why give the establishment information to use against you?

Electors can be replaced... Hasn’t always been the case. In 1864, a Lincoln elector from Nevada died, and wasn’t replaced. Nowadays when someone dies, a replacement can be named.

“This is a coup. They’re undermining our electoral process against the people’s will.”

And their desired result leaves no option except revolution by force.

This has been tolerated a few time in the past when the elector wanted to make a statement and the outcome of the election wouldn't change. The last time it happened, I think, was 2004 when a Minnesota elector voted for John Edwards, then the world's second most successful gigolo, over John Kerry who was #1. As I recall, he couldn't even spell the name right.

Still, it isn't wise to announce your desire for this kind of attention in advance.

These Republicans trying to make themselves relevant are doing nothing more than showing the world their degenerate/reprobate mindset. How would you like to be a member of their family knowing full well they have “lost it”.

No kidding. He should let someone else take his place on ballot

This disingenuous “I don’t have to do what the voters want” attitude needs to be kicked in the groin

The Georgia GOP had better lean hard on this guy
