If Republicans in Missouri were as good at dismembering Democrats as they are fellow Republicans we would never have another Demwit office holder!

If we get another Democrat Governor in Missouri we can all kiss Right to Work goodbye forever. And Constitutional Carry (likely to be passed next month in veto override session) will be repealed. Koster, for a Democrat, is fairly decent. Hence, he will be hard for any Republican to beat. Tough to overcome vote advantage from Demwit bastions of KC/St.L. But, we gotta try!

Greitens is our candidate. Lets all get out there and $upport him and vote for him.

Read the whole article — could be another Trojan Horse “conservative,” like so many gopE RINOs who said they were with the Tea Party.

And?

If your premise, which can be affixed to literally any politician, is true, should folks just let the known Leftists quantity in?

Lots of folks, most probably unintentionally, are sounding a lot like Tokyo Rose these days - seems like they have a mission to demoralize our side of the aisle no matter what.

Many of them do so without appearing to actually invest themselves in the conservatism they claim to support. I usually strongly urge them to become relevant by donating to the candidate of their choice and to Donate to FR

Are you a Tokyo Rose or a relevant conservative?

Damn. Didn’t vote for him but guess I will have to in November. There is just something I don’t like about him.

Ditto. His whole campaign was less than convincing.

He may be the best bet against Koster though, as he seems to understand the PR end of things.

I got Grieten’s book on CD for my commute.

I was called the Heart and the Fist.

It was light on Navy Seals and heavy on his humanitarian work, which is OK, I guess.

The emphasis was on understanding/sympathizing with poor 3rd worlders which again is OK, I guess.

Koster is an ex Rep running as a dem and Greiten is an ex dem running as rep. Nothing like trying to confuse the voters.

I’m satisfied with the Missouri primary results. Catherine Hanaway surrounded herself with ethical gangsters and it’s said that you’re as good as the people you hire. Peter Kinder was lame. I leaned to Brunner due to his name ID, but Greitens sounds like a decent choice.

Why was Kinder lame? Did he have some scandal?

Politically, Missouri resembles Ohio and Pennsylvania, with a conservative rural and small town population, but cursed by large, liberal cities. Unlike Illinois, California, Michigan, or New York, the large liberal cities are not so dominant that the state becomes a one party fiefdom.

Kinder had been accused of being in a strip club and consorting with a known stripper. Oh the humanity! No big deal in my opinion, but in some it was I guess.

I would have had no problem voting for him nor any of the other three candidates in the November election. Fine folks, one and all. Kinder was a strong proponent of Right to Work legislation. NRA backed, etc.

Greitens was strong statewide except for SW MO which went for Brunner and the Bootheel region which went for Kinder. Here’s hoping he makes a good Governor!

I agree with you. He certainly had a very “political” military career as a SEAL. Three books published? White House fellow? Started a non profit? Most guys I know in the military don’t have the time or connections for all these extra curricular activities.

Yes, I recall that now. That’s it?

It wasn’t enough to stop him from being reeelected (barely) but I guess it was enough to prevent him from winning this nomination. Absent any scandal he would have been the no-brainer choice IMO.

I probably would have still voted for him, or Brunner. Hanaway would have been my last choice.

Grietens is the fresh face, I hope that helps him win in November.

So Carnahan’s spawn is the rat nominee for LT Gov? Ugh.

John Ashcroft’s son is the GOP nominee for Sec of State.

I’d really a like a damn sweep, what are the chances? MO votes GOP for President, big control of the leg, Congressional delegation, US Senate, everything but the damn statewide constitutional offices.

Greitens needs to tie the horrific Nixon around Koster’s neck, especially the Ferguson debacle and all that flowed from it. They got their marching orders from the White House to preserve “disorder” and allow the thugs free reign.

I didn’t notice Rusty Carnahan trying to sneak into the Lt Guv’s office. He needs to be kept out.

I’m puzzled as to why there isn’t a special election for State Auditor. An unelected Nixon appointee should not be holding that office for nearly 4 years.

Carnahan will run for governor if Koster loses in November. Carnahan and his sister, Robin have wanted to run for governor for years. Their dad, Mel Carnahan would have been Kerry’s vice president in 2004 if he had not died. Missouri at the time was a swing state.

MO is a red-leaning state, but it can elect Democrats sometimes.

I think had Mel survived the plane crash, he still would’ve lost to then-Sen. Ashcroft (and given that Ashcroft was a key to the Senate GOP majority, he wouldn’t have then been selected to be Attorney General). I’d have been surprised if Kerry had picked Carnahan to be his running mate 4 years out of office over the more attractive “Breck Girl” Edwards (and Edwards came from NC, which has more ECs than MO, and presumably could’ve put the state in the Dem column, as it did go briefly Dem in ‘08, although solely because of Bob Barr running Libertarian).

Federally, Presidentially and legislatively, Missouri is solidly Republican (I don’t call that “Red”, that’s a deliberate media newspeak color switcheroo from 2000 to disassociate the Dems from their true nature - Red is the historic color of radical leftism (Communism/Socialism/Nazism). Blue is the proper color of the GOP, which should be used every time someone erroneously claims the “Red” for the GOP, which grates on me no end for its offensiveness). Frustratingly, the state votes wrong for state offices. Other than the late Tom Schweich for Auditor (who should’ve been enjoying a primary victory for Governor and an easy romp over Koster), only Peter Kinder has had any luck statewide.

It’s worth noting that in 28 years, only Ashcroft (in 1988) and Matt Blunt (in 2004) has the GOP won the Governorship, not since 1988 and lastly in 2000 have they won Sec of State (Roy Blunt the first time and Matt the second time), not since William Webster in 1988 have they won Attorney General (and Webster’s criminal screw-up paved the way for Mel Carnahan’s Gubernatorial victory in ‘92), and like the Governorship, only Wendell Bailey (in ‘88) and Sarah Steelman (in ‘04) won State Treasurer. To be sure, a terrible record for all these offices at a time when the state has huge GOP legislative majorities. That only Kinder has a statewide office at present (and by a thin-as-a-nail margin) is a disgrace. The Dems should’ve died there after the ‘90s. Consider how strongly the GOP dominated statewide offices in the 1980s even when they were underperforming for Congressional seats and a decided minority in the legislature from 1931 until 2001/03.

IIRC that SOB Carnahan was trailing (narrowly but trailing) while he was alive, he pulled ahead after he croaked. That says something very...not good about human nature. I still SHM at that race. I think his damn ghost is still haunting the seat. Talent got it from his damn widow but then he ‘lost’ in 2006 and then Akin’s epic fail gave away a certain win. Ugh. That B McCrapskull needs to GO in 2018.

Presuming he did live and was elected and chosen as Kerry’s running mate, I doubt he’d have tipped the state to him. He’d have helped, but not enough. All Edwards did in NC was stop Bush from gaining.

Strange anomalies in MO politics, I can’t explain it. Even though it’s lean GOP for President now it would probably help to move all the statewide offices to the midterms. It would probably help in WV too despite it now being SAFE Republican for President.

I didn't realize that. That sucks.
