WASHINGTON — In a remarkable and lengthy rebuke of his party’s nominee, Senator John McCain sharply criticized Donald J. Trump’s comments about the family of a fallen Muslim Army captain, saying, “While our party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us.”
Mr. McCain, a war hero whose service and capture in Vietnam was also once derided by Mr. Trump, had stayed largely silent over the weekend as Mr. Trump’s feud with the parents of Capt. Humayun Khan brewed, waiting until Monday morning to release a prepared statement.
“In recent days, Donald Trump disparaged a fallen soldier’s parents,” he wrote of the parents, Khizr and Ghazala Khan. “He has suggested that the likes of their son should not be allowed in the United States — to say nothing of entering its service. I cannot emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement. I hope Americans understand that the remarks do not represent the views of our Republican Party, its officers or candidates.”

McCain did not make that sacrifice, and his voice is just a voice - with no extra credibility because he was unlucky enough to have been shot down in war. Many suffered worse. Those brave men who put their lives on the line in Benghazi, including those who died and those who lived, have no less voice than his, but the media isn’t hanging on their every word. Did McCain chastise Chris Matthews for saying that he didn’t care that the Benghazi mother who spoke at the Republican convention lost her son? No, he didn’t. What does that tell you about the McCain and his motivation?
Gee and I wonder where he was when ones like Chris Matthews and Hillary herself even made remarks about the Benghazi mother?

If republicans who are working against Trump think there will be a return to the old normal for them after the election they are more wrong than they can imagine.
The millions and millions who voted for and supported Trum through the primary contests will never forgive people like Cruz, McCain, Ryan, Kasich and all of the other old guard who are trying to make certain Hillary defeats Trump.

There is a mushy uninterested 10-15% that decide almost every election in the civilized world from country to country. If he doesn’t fight fire with fire, if he has to counter punch over and over he is is going to lose. He has to lead the onslaught many have talked of and it has to start now, and it has to be brutal.
If she is going to bring out the families of a fallen soldier, Trump needs to bring out a hundred other such families and sit with them on every network and at every rally. Sounds calculating because it is - and that’s exactly what the poisonous left has done and its exactly why they have been kicking conservative ass for a long time. And if anyone honestly believes that is not the case then they are massively deluded.
