Fidel Castro used forced labor back in the 60s to harvest cane in the countryside. It was sold as a way to help city folk appreciate what the peasants did for a living....brotherhood, community and all that.
Of course the city dwellers had no idea how to cut cane or harvest the crop, resulting in a lot of injuries. Another rousing success for communism!
Castro welcomed the US leftist stooges who volunteered to help with the cane harvest. Dubbed the Venceremos Brigade, they returned singing the praises of Castro’s totalitarin regime. Hard core commie agents of change.
