except I would make it 13 to 19. My son when 19 was worth two men and paid accordingly. Make them earn it.

It is not the minimum wage rate that really matters, it's the wanting to improve yourself, your skills and your life in general.

THAT is worthy of a bumper sticker.

Besides, it is ridiculous to say end the minimum wage deport 11 million people. That will never happen and is political suicide to suggest. (...) Minimum wage Illegal immigration is here to stay and is going to go up.

Not so long ago my revisions would have been true. Now that people feel the pain of allowing unabated illegal immigration, deporting 11 million people doesn't seem so ridiculous. Perhaps when they feel the pain of a $15 minimum wage, that won't be so ridiculous either.

Where exactly did you get the 20% number? Why not 100% or 200%?

The USA imports $2.4 Trillion per year and collects almost nothing in duties on it. A 20% tariff raises $500B which would balance the budget under the Bush administration. Under a free sending leftest maybe not, but almost.

But your flippant comment can be turned against you What about income taxes? Why can marginal rates be 50%? Why not 90%?

spending can decrease and revenue can increase at the same time

Most rational people can see that when spending is completely out of control, increasing revenue is not the answer.

At best a combination tariff and income tax reduction would work the best.

Eliminate the income tax. Completely. And don't pull the dodge of replacing it with a VAT. Then we can talk about tariffs. But first, CUT SPENDING!!!

You keep repeating the “average” red-herring.

Even if “most” jobs “already” start out at “$9 or $10”, the minimum wage increase will make them jump to the NEW “starting out” wage of $13 to $15.

Minimum wage sets the floor for every pay range, regardless of how many people actually earn at the minimum rate. It is $7 today, so those starting out might get $9. If it becomes $10 tomorrow, the starting out will demand $14. That is pure economics.

The globalist cheap labor express has turned the USA into a post industrial service economy. This push is to be expected. I am surprised the minimum wage is a low as it is now.

“The globalist cheap labor express has turned the USA into a post industrial service economy. “

Just wait until those “post industrial service economy” jobs are really automated. We might be 10 years, at max, away from it.

Most illegals work under the table, so a minimum wage wouldn’t matter. Then they go apply for welfare, food stamps, every free handout there is. So they effectively get 3-4 times the minimum wage.

Sorry you are wrong...unless its a union contract..
you must have never run or owned a business...

no private business automatically increase his current employees wages to match the increase when minimum wage goes up...

Walmart just increased their minimum to 10.00

Nobody got a increase if they were above 10.00

How do I know this...my wife works for WM...

In 97 I started at Donaldsons co. inc, making air filters. I would process around 3,000 feet a shift. Fast Forward 10 years, me and another guy were doing 25-30,000 feet a shift.
