Oh, I quite agree that their fathers have been seriously shirking their duties. At this point, that goes back several generations. Lack of effective fatherhood is destructive both to individuals and to societies.
I often wonder what America would be like if we had passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which we needed to do) and had not passed the various welfare acts of the “Great Society.” It seems that welfare completely gutted the meaning of the civil rights movement, as I believe the democrats intended that it would.
