Me too. I still miss the restaurants and the lake but I don't miss the taxes. Most of the people I knew there have also left, though fled is a better adjective.

In Florida you can sail most of the year, in Chicago, not so much.
Here, no income tax.
I fled California decades ago for much the same reasons.
We left in 1976. But I’d bet a quarter that we’re still voting in Cook County!!
