WASHINGTON — An Alexandria police officer who says she was refused service at a local restaurant is getting an apology.

Peter Feltham, with the Alexandria Committee of Police told NBC 4 an Alexandria officer went into a Noodles & Company on Duke Street for dinner Monday evening and was denied service.

“While they were waiting in line, the cook from behind the counter went up to the cash register person and pointed at the police officer and said, ‘You have to take me off the line. I ain’t serving that.’ The officer realized what was happening and rather than make an incident of it, the officer just left the business,” Feltham said.

Police spokeswoman Crystal Nosal says it was never made clear why the officer was singled out, but said she was in full uniform at the time.

Death by Yelp. Not a great business model.

Yelp will probably end up pulling the reviews. They did that for a nasty company in Dallas. My recollection is that the company was a paying Yelp customer, so it appears that all the company needs to do is pay the appropriate ‘advertising fee’.

That’s probably a brilliant comment, but could you elucidate?

Refuse to serve an on-duty cop: a First Amendment social statement. Refuse to bake two dykes a 'wedding' cake: a federal snivel rights case.

Police officer is not a member of "protected class" — the concept which should be entirely foreign, illegal and done away with in a "classless" society with the First and Fourteenth ("equal protection of the laws") Amendments.

The "right" of some not to be "discriminated" against is, in itself, discriminatory...

Firing people is not easy. You can be taken to court, the EEOC can get involved. It becomes a hassle to get rid of workers. I have family members in VA who own fast food restaurants and know what they experience finding and keeping good employees. BTW...Police officers eat free on Wednesday’s at their restaurants.

Update on the story:

Restaurant apologizes for treatment of Alexandria police officer

Excerpt:

WASHINGTON — An Alexandria police officer who says she was refused service at a local restaurant is getting an apology.

...

Chief Earl Cook as well as a union representative met with the Noodles & Company manager who Nosal said apologized for his employee’s actions.

In a statement, Noodles & Company said:

“We are working with the appropriate authorities and local police association representatives to get to the bottom of, and resolve this matter as quickly as possible. We have made efforts to reach out to the police officer involved, but have not yet spoken with her. We will continue to look into the situation and will take the appropriate actions at the conclusion of this review.”

If I was a police officer nowadays, I would be packing a sack lunch from home.

I hope the cops do just that. I hope city cops slow way down, enjoy their home-made lunches in a local green space, go easier on perps of color, exert themselves less overall, keep that blood pressure down.

I hear you, but that never seems to be the case when libs fire conservatives for something libs don’t like, not for cause.

IF I were the manager-—he would be spending his next months talking to people at the unemployment office.

MY ‘Come To Jesus” talk would have been 2 words only:

YOU’RE FIRED.

And good luck in getting ANY kind of a reference.

To: COBOL2Java; combat_boots

Not that it will make any difference to him, as his mind is made up and his boycott will stand, combat_boots would be the one to ping.

This firing was inevitable.

I am not a police officer and I don’t do that [go through the drive thru]. And don’t think for a moment that police officers are the only ones that get extra toppings and seasoning in their food. If they will do it to the police, they will do it to anybody. And if they will do it to anyone, they will do it to the police.
