#NeverTrump Republican to cross enemy lines with DNC speech

#NeverTrump Republicans plan to make waves by disavowing GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump in a speech Thursday at the Democratic National Convention. Lifelong Republican Doug Elmets, a former Reagan administration speechwriter and domestic adviser, said Monday he sees Mr. Trump as a “petulant reality TV star.” “I never anticipated supporting a Democrat, but Hillary Clinton is certainly the most prepared candidate probably in modern times to be president,” Mr. Elmets said in a video interview with The Sacramento Bee. “And given the alternative of a petulant reality TV star candidate in Donald Trump, the decision was very easy.”

Never Trump is merely a synonym for Anti-American.

As has been said repeatedly, when Trump wins there are a lot of very evil people in this country (from both parties) who will be going to jail.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Jeb Jeb Binks and Lady Lindsay had offered to speak as well.

The left still won’t respect Elmets.

These louts are chaff, winnowing themselves out of the wheat. It is vital none of them have any authority in the Trump administration. The sheer genius of Trump is his ability to alienate the very people who need to be gone.

I never heard of him. I doubt he was ever a Republican except in name only. I doubt he played any part in the Reagan Administration.

He is now a Sacramento based lobbyist and probably can’t pay his bills.

I wonder how much he was paid for this and what he was told to say.

Hard to believe he wrote speeches for Reagan when he apparently has fecal matter for brains. A blithering idiot.

Gergen understudy at Reagan White House. His opinion doesn’t matter and may be safely disregarded.

Hillary Clinton is certainly the most prepared candidate probably in modern times to be president,” Mr. Elmets said

His mind is gone.

GOP, show him to the nearest EXIT. He just had to go all the way and actually support a very dark candidate from the opposing team.

Lifelong Republican Doug Elmets

Never heard of the man. What's the matter, the DNC couldn't recruit Ted Cruz, Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush to speak on such short notice?

“I never anticipated supporting a Democrat, but Hillary Clinton is certainly the most prepared candidate probably in modern times to be president,”

I… what? How?
Did he even hear about Comey's speech other than the end "we recommend against prosecution"?

What about the gross negligence of Benghazi?

What about the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Cash stuff?

Is that what it takes to be prepared?

says the petulant, "15 minutes of fame", totally divorced from reality, "star".
