Sacramento Republican will rip Trump in Democratic convention speech
Sacramento Bee ^ | July 25 2016 | David Siders

On the night that Hillary Clinton accepts the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, Sacramento Republican Doug Elmets, who worked in the Reagan White House and spearheaded construction of a statue of the late president at the California Capitol, will deliver a blistering critique of Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention.

In his Thursday night address, the Sacramento public affairs consultant will call Trump a “petulant, dangerously unbalanced TV star” and contrast him with Ronald Reagan, he said Monday.

Elmets previously said publicly that he planned to vote for Clinton. Still, he said people will be “a little bit shocked” by what he called a “pretty provocative” speech. In his remarks, he will seek to persuade Republicans and independent voters to shift their support to Clinton.

“I believe that four years of Hillary Clinton is better than one day of Donald Trump as president,” he said Monday.

Can’t be much of a Reagan Republican IF he is supporting Lock Her Up Clinton.

There have been communists permeating Hollywood since the 1920s.

McCarthy was completely right, he just handled it all wrong.

I sure don’t even need to look up this guy’s voting record to know he’s no conservative.

Whatever.

He can't be much of a Republican if he aligns himself with this steaming pile of communist filth.

Very likely has been well paid by "the beast".

Actually Joe McCarthy didn’t address Hollywood at all. His targets were strictly gov’t like the State Dept and the Army.

Here’s a bit from the article:

“Elmets said he will tell delegates that Trump is “running for president based on fear, whereas Ronald Reagan ran for president based on hope.” He said he also plans to criticize the Republican Party platform, which he called “the most alarming collection of extreme positions imaginable.”

“Although Hillary Clinton holds many policy positions that differ from my own, her qualifications to be president are indisputable,” he said. “She is probably more qualified than anybody in modern history to be president of the United State

You remember the Hollywood ‘blacklist’? McCarthyism has always been blamed for that.

I doubt Doug Ose or Jim Brulte will approve. And if they don’t approve, Elmets will have a hard time breaking into Sacramento politics from the Republican side. No one will trust him. Not that Norcal-ers would have open arms for a turncoat transplant acting all high and mighty anyway. Maybe he can spend Cruz’s check moving to Colorado where he’d be happier.

McCarthy never got involved in that or in investigating Hollywood in any fashion. For one thing he was in the Senate and it was HUAC led by Edward Hart in the House that looked into Hollywood. Others did as well including Ronald Reagan as the head of the Screen Actors Guild. There’s several books on all of this including Billingsley’s Hollywood Party.

The Trump phenomenon has exposed the degree to which the republican party, and even the conservative wing, are populated with plants and traitors to The United States and its citizens.

Hopefully the light of day will shine, prevail, and a purge will occur...

Will issue a blistering critique? Blistering implies damaging and that is yet to be seen. A better choice of words might be: will make spiteful false allegations.

Invoking Ronald Reagan at the DNC should go over as well as invoking Hitlery at a Feel the Bern fart-in.
