My understanding is this. Germany is ruled by a coalition of mostly leftist parties. There are four or five big ones. The AFD is the one that is anti-immigrant. It polls between 11-19% based on location. Even if by a miracle they became the leading coalition partner they would still be diluted by the wishes of some other party.
Americans complain about the two party system, but we are a model of efficiency by comparison with most other Western countries.

Conclusion - there won't be a consensus. They'll continue to babble and run around in circles while the wheels continue to come off, until the rise of a strong group or strongman, then we get to see some history do a repeat cycle.
