Re: the Horst Wessel Song. I am always in favor of reclaiming good tunes from the bad guys. The melody had an honorable history before the Nazis adopted it with new lyrics. It’s past time to take it back. Deutschland Uber Alles is another good example. The melody is by Hayden and, as a hymn, the tune is a standard in musically competent churches. The version that was adopted as the national anthem in the 19th century was a call for German national unity. It was not directed against foreigners at all; it called for Germany “over” Bavaria, Saxony, Prussia, and all the other formerly independent German states. It’s a fine tune and one of the best national anthems. Lyrics can always be readjusted.

IMHO, a coup d’etat by men ready to do whatever is necessary to eliminate the invaders is the only way Germany will survive the Islamic invasion.
Went last year to Oktoberfest and had planned to be there this year. Changed my mind in light of the German meltdown, and suspect thousands of others have also changed their plans. It’s a damn shameful thing that has happened there. Countless Italians show up every year, and there is even an Italian police presence there from Bolzano to restrain the more unruly ones.
Any out there that don’t themselves subscribe to some form of socialistic philosophy?

Actually, for 2017’s Oktoberfest, it will be fenced off (first time ever). You will have to enter via a dozen-odd points with cops checking you out. Will be a huge fiasco for entry and turn off the crowds big time.
Yesterday, new topic in Munich...mayor says they may ban entry into the fest grounds with backpacks (to ensure nothing slips by). Women with purses? Probably Ok right now.
Based on the crowd I’ve seen there....just the idea of central entry points would clog up the system drastically (like that stupid U-bahn station within the grounds). You might be spending 90 minutes in line just to enter on a Sat or Sun.
Wow.... that will be a nightmare.
I’ve been three times, but... the last time was in 2011. So, it’s been awhile. When I was there, MASSES of people roamed freely. They could have 30 entry points, and there would still be long lines.
Well....and remember half the people trying to enter will already be fairly drunk already. No one knows how this will work and I’d question the effective nature of this.
