You neglect to mention that a substantial portion of Russia's GPD is petroleum exports.
You've presented an incomplete picture, since the fall in petroleum directly mirrors your chart.
I would agree that Putin has fumbled, but in the area of increasing freedom and removal of the Soviet punative civilian controls. If he had removed those, Russia would have been the new America. Millions would have flocked there. Russia would rapidly be rivaling China and America in the 2020's.
I agree with you that "Putin has fumbled." I have never claimed that Putin is worse than Stalin or some of the other commies who preceded him. I have said only that he is an incompetent, that he has created a Kleptocracy, and that he (or his henchman) have committed acts of terror and murder. The world knows these things.
As you can see, I have no use for the guy.
