Gov. Jerry Brown Friday rejected parole for former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten, who was convicted of the 1969 killings of grocers Leno and Rosemary La Bianca at their Los Feliz home.
A state parole board had recommended in April that Van Houten, now 66, be paroled.
When considered as a whole, I find the evidence shows that she currently poses an unreasonable danger to society if released from prison, Brown wrote in his decision rejecting parole.

Your remark made made me howl. It scared my cat.
I guess never having to earn a living, getting 3 squares a day, free health care and always having a roof over your head keeps you young.
That looks like BLM graffiti.
When considered as a whole, he should let her out. In California, every other sort of fiend and murderer is released. They should let her out and see what happens.

My younger sister lived in a commune in northern Vermont for several years at the same time Linda Kasabian was there (The Manson girl who turned state’s witness)
That would have creeped me out a little, but didn’t bother my sister. This was the kind of place they would make ‘Placenta Stew’ when someone had a baby...
I agree. It seems keeping someone in prison is not the issue of the murderer, but the influence of the victims and their families.
More like paroling any one connected to Manson has a blow back effect.
It takes a lot of work to protest a parole hearing. Did 6 to eke out 12.5 yrs of 20 yrs for my 16 year old son’s Jeremy was (mentally and physically 12), his killer was terry joe windham. He now walks the streets of Tennessee a free man. Beat my child to death less than a block from home behind a old ice plant, short cut that many took on the way home from HS. His weapon a 2 ft section of fence post. Took 2 yrs to get to that crap plea deal of M1 to M2 reducing time to a range of 10-30 yrs, with 20 yrs chosen, and those 2 yrs in jail counted as part of sentence 1 for 1 ‘good behavior days’ that makes them serve less time, time the victims families have to fight for.
I was never consulted on the plea deal.
Manson’s last parole hearing was in 2012, next 15 yrs from that time.

Katie spelled it wrong.
Wonderful.
I wonder why. He’s released practically everyone else.
Good Ole Charlie!
Jerry Brown has released 40,000 other criminals so far. He wants them to be able to vote.
Sigh. They were squatting on some guy’s property up there who didn’t really care they were there, no electricity, no running water in Northern Vermont.
I give em props for that. I wouldn’t do it unless I had to, and they didn’t have to. But, in the end...they were...
Hippies.
Thank you for the correction.
