Though I am pleased to witness his self destruction, I hope I never hear another thing about Ted Cruz. He was never eligible in my mind, and that topic was not permitted to be fully vetted here on FR, so I mostly held my tong, and I would have voted for him had he prevailed despite my core convictions about NBC. An originalist constitutional lawyer who by his own words ‘born on soil to citizen parents’ is ineligible should never have run for the highest office and still expected voters to believe he has any core convictions at all.

UnvetTED ... I believe the question still remains, and perhaps a SCOTUS ruling is the only remedy to solve the question, is Ted eligible ? I have read many opinions and know for certain only what I believe. If he plans to pull his head out of the sand and try this again in 2020, I pray that he is forced to have that question 100% legally resolved before the electorate is ever again asked to take up his cause.

... terminaTED ...

I’ll never sway from the definition Clinton and Obama agreed to and signed their names to in SR511 Committee that NBC = born on US soil to 2 US citizens. UnvetTED is not and never will be a natural born citizen eligible to run for POTUS. Hellary would have pounced on that and had the election tied up forever if he’d been the nominee.

He committed political suicide. He may never win again in Texas especially after talking down to the Texas Delegates at the breakfast the next morning. He’s such a liar that he couldn’t maintain a fake Texas accent more than a sentence to two. He’s no Texan, that’s for sure.

You said—”He was never eligible in my mind, and that topic was not permitted to be fully vetted here on FR, so I mostly held my tong, and I would have voted for him had he prevailed despite my core convictions about NBC. And how could so many FReepers excuse him when he is clearly ineligible as it further opens the door to ‘God knows who’ and erodes American sovereignty?

When he was elected as a Texas senator, reporters dug into his Canadian roots. -—

Both parents had become Canadian citizens.
Both Rafael and Eleanor Cruz were registered to vote in Canada.
Rafael ‘Ted’ Cruz was born to two Canadian citizens on Canadian soil.
Ted is a Natural Born citizen of CANADA only.

The falsehoods declared by his staff are erroneous subterfuge to distract from the facts. Cruz nor his mother directly answered those inquiries. His father would only speak for himself. The Cruz’s are deceivers of the truth and were willing to disregard the constitutional requirements for personal greed and ambition.

By Canadian law: Both Cruz parents were interviewed by two official Alberta provincial enumerators. They swore to their citizenship and residency at within their own home. They stated their ages and employment and produced identification to appear on the official voters roll. It was publicly posted and published, by law.

While it may have taken Ted 18 months to get the Canadian records sealed, the facts remain. They had to have been Canadian citizens. There’s no error. No mistake. The Cruz’s were listed as CANADIAN CITIZENS.

When TED became an American citizen is a mystery. We assume that he applied for a passport his final year in HS. But maybe it came later while working for GWB. When Trump becomes POTUS, he should dig up that file and see what the Cruz’s claimed to grant Ted US citizenship. His dad coveted his Canadian citizenship status for 40 years, so it was not through him. Had to have been the mother. - Faux patriots.

It has basically been common knowledge that you have to be born here...which is why Obama went to such effort to prove he was born in Hawaii. My niece was born in Holland and has dual citizenship and the other day she said she couldn’t be POTUS because of where she was born (not that she wants to). She’s quite liberal.

Really ironic for Ted to be spouting “constitutional principles” when he himself was trying to violate one by running for POTUS when he had previously told a reporter that to be POTUS you have to be born on the soil of 2 citizen parents. This is why Lawrence Tribe called him a hypocrite.

“perhaps a SCOTUS ruling is the only remedy to solve the question, is Ted eligible ?”

I don’t want the black robed tyrants in the Supreme Court to weigh in on this at all, because I fear they’ll interpret the clear intent of the Framers wrongly.

We The People were given the lion’s share of power by the Constitution. Why do we need our employees to ‘explain’ the plain meaning of our founding charter to us, when all they’ve ever done is ratchet our freedoms downward, while arrogating power and authority to themselves?

Well said!

Cruz’s (and obama’s) eligibility issue must be really settled (NOT cruz’s ‘settled’), way before the next election year. Whoever with the authority to do so must lead the effort - the President, or Congress, or Supreme court.....
Wonder which leader has the insight, the courage, the ability to lead the way??

We might be ‘worried’ about this too soon (before our candidate is elected the president), but if we don’t nip it before it starts again, we will be battling the same old problem when it is too late, and the obamas and cruzes of the world will be there haunting us again.
