Germany on Friday stressed its promise to protect its NATO allies after White House hopeful Donald Trump called the commitment into question.

“The German government is fundamentally committed to Article Five of the NATO treaty. That is the central promise of solidarity within the alliance,” Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters when asked about Trump’s remarks.

“Collective defense according to Article Five is and remains the main duty of NATO,” Seibert added, noting that the pledge had once again been renewed at a NATO summit this month in Warsaw. …

AFP working to shatter alliances now. But that has always been the goal of the foreign liberal media.

And it is noteworthy how Merkel’s spokesman emphasized “collective” when it came to defense.

Deutschland can’t even protect itself against an Islamist Invasion. Plus their troops can’t put in more than an 8 hr day.

It was nuts in the first place to extend Nato to the Baltics.

I though that the US provided the majority of the military in Germany. What troops do the Germans plan to use? They spend all their money on the illegal immigrants they support.

They can, but they do not want to. In order to increase the crisis.

The atmosphere is that of preparation for bringing in dictatorial leadership, take note; and it won’t come from the “grass roots” but from the elite.

It's LONG past time for the socialist countries of Europe to start pulling their own weight.

We have allowed the cancer of socialism to take hold all across Europe because they didn't have to pay for military’s and instead outsourced that responsibility to the US taxpayer so they could funnel the money into the bottomless pit of socialist programs.

“Jah, as long as ve hafe American buckskies to spend doing it!” Time for Europe, and particulaly the Krauts, to pony up their fair share. They’ve let us foot the bill so that they could use their own money to fund their welfare state. And it’s been that wey since the end of WWII. Ficken zie Deutchland!

Germany has already legalized allowing EU citizens to join the Bundeswehr.

And a EU military has been planned literally for decades, including how to unify all the militaries under one command structure. This military will not defend us in the same manner as we defended them for decades; it’s not in their remit.

How about everybody contributes to that vast NATO defensive system - and not just money and non-combat troops, but actually soldiers willing to do fighting.

Is the German government committed to THAT basic principle too? Or do they just expect others to do the dirty work?

The Germans are unhappy the Eastern Europeans aren’t also committing suicide by admitting hordes of muslims.

The Germans eventually will condition their defense obligation of Eastern Europe on whether these countries open their borders to muslim populations. Just watch and wait.

Last I read about the Germany Military was their use of broom sticks to represent machine guns because their units didn’t have any for a war game.

Is Germany going to defend the Baltics with their army broomsticks?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2015/02/19/germanys-army-is-so-under-equipped-that-it-used-broomsticks-instead-of-machine-guns/

NATO is the U.S. It's cute hearing Germany pretend it'd do anything other than pick up the phone to call the United States.

Germany’s in for a change of leadership soon. And with respect to your handle’s quote from “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, it most likely won’t be the same as the old boss.
