I seem to remember Ryan getting in some solid hits! Quite a pasting!

Americans are furious—rightly so—at a political establishment that cynically breaks its promises and ignores the will of the people.a

In this first substantive sentence Cruz speaks of himself, a promise-breaker and one who ignores the will of the people. Trump pegged him right: He IS Lyin' Ted.

Then in his last he "promise[s] to lead the fight for freedom and our liberty". How can such a snake be trusted?

Cruz had his one last chance and Trump was kind enough to give it to him - he's obviously not very smart or he would have noticed that those who tried to get the rules changed for him had moved on over the previous two days and had opted to go for broke with Trump.

He had a smug smile when an expectant crowd cheered him on the stage and I would imagine he felt a bit of the pucker effect when he got booed off.

Newt tried to assuage the situation but he also knows that what Cruz did is inexcusable at that venue.

I predict that Cruz coffers start drying up like Oklahoma in the dust bowl.

TRUMP had the judgment to realize that he NEEDED the Cruz
supporters & sought to include them in the convention.
TRUMP set no trap and showed common courtesy.

Cruz broke his PLEDGE. No excuses. No parsing words. After
8 yrs. of Obama lies, it is long past time for TRUTH.

Ryan beat him to hell, despite being 20 years older.

Reagan endorsed Ford and didn’t tell the voters to ‘vote their conscience’!

Yep, just that. Hate that I voted for him in the primary. However, I won’t make that mistake ever again. #Trump2016 FTW

Cruz has a Messiah complex.

“Vote your conscience” is a far cry from supporting Trump and even light years further away from endorsing the choice the people have made. Some need to learn to live in the real world and not some Utopian ultra-conservative simulation constantly spinning around in their head. In their head is the only place that exists and it’s all an illusion.

Did anyone else interpret Cruz’s admonition to vote the entire ticket “up and down” as a grudging, backhanded endorsement?

I wish I knew how to photoshop. Trump was the Nolan Ryan in that picture with Ventura making his worst decision in his baseball career.

Cruz as a bright lawyer knows his eligibility problem too, and yet he ploughed ahead

The Kenyan set that precedent...

An amusing analogy - but was really more like a manager giving a guy a prime slot in the batting order in the World Series... and serving up a grapefruit... and watching the guy whiff.

Cruz had such a great chance to bury the hatchet between him and Trump. Cruz will never get his head straight until he forgives Trump.

Worse than not showing good sportsmanship is the fact that he went back on his word.

Yup. Sore sport AND a dishonorable POS whose word means exactly...JACKSQUAT! /Chris Farley.

His character is that of a sewer rat. And he kinda resembles one too.

Now that you mention it, his mannerisms are oddly rodent-like :-)
