The Texas senator not only failed to endorse Trump at any point during his 23-minute remarks, he also encouraged Republicans to “vote their conscience...”
When it became clear that Cruz was not was not offering a direct endorsement, the crowd broke out in boos that continued for the balance of Cruz's remarks, shouting "We want Trump" as Cruz wrapped his speech.
And that wasn't the only interruption. Toward the end of Cruz's remarks, Trump himself made a previously unannounced entrance into the arena, prompting cheers and pulling the attention away from the main stage.
Republicans were livid with Cruz for declining to endorse. Mississippi state Rep. Becky Currie blasted Cruz, calling him “stupid” after proving that he “apparently only thinks of himself.”
“If he came here to really unite the party, he would have stood behind the candidate the people chose," Currie, who shouted “Trump” with others in the crowd as Cruz finished his speech...

It’s called “Damning with faint praise.”
Kindly stop discussing this possibility on the public forum. It does no good and can do harm. Do you think for one moment he has not given all possibilities a lot of thought and review? There is only one proper place for this discussion, which is behind closed doors with his security staff and his family.
One evidence of that is that people have been asking him to run for president since the 80s, and he knew not to do it until now, when there was absolutely no alternative.
He is like the in-law who will never kindly acknowlege the grandchildren by a son or daughter who married out of the race or the faith. He just turns his face the other way and is terse and civli, but there’s no love, forgiveness or compromise for the sake of the extended family.
We’re not expecting Cruz to love Donald Trump; but he has no excuse for not loving his country enough to put his personal situation aside for the good of the nation.
Cruz is still a young man with decades ahead of him in which to make his mark; but he just sabotaged his own self badly. No one likes to see someone turn a knife when they should show mercy, even towards themselves. He dared the audience to join him in demonstrating indignance towards Trump, and he failed miserably, like that Alaska delegate who threw a hissy fit about the counting of AK’s votes, because he didn’t understand his own state’s electoral rules. So he made a fool of himself on national television.
The worst that can come of this is that Cruz will become a permanent agent provacateur like Al Gore or Bishop Romney. This kind of willfull arrogance is dangerous.
I agree with what you say, but the turning point for Cruz came much earlier. He hired Neil Bush, he started going negative on Trump and he got involved with Beck. Those things were right after Iowa as I recall. I think Trump all along, up to perhaps late March, wanted Cruz to be his Pence, a VP who is unquestionably conservative and knows the ways of Congress. Cruz crossed the line, and fought to the end, and Trump had to look for someone else.
I've looked, but have never found one. If you know how to make one, please ping me; I'd love to have it. Can't imagine why no one has made one yet.
As a real estate developer, he's been having to deal with politicians to get waivers and authorizations for his projects, for close to five decades. I think he understands professional politicians better than they understand themselves.
