Turkish state media say authorities are acting to close down 626 private schools and other educational establishments, in the latest step of a crackdown after last week's attempted coup.

The schools are linked to exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen, who set up a network of schools across Turkey to promote his teachings.

Another glaringly obvious move proving it was all staged.

It’s worth noting that these are all Islamic schools rather than private secular schools. From what I can tell, the moneyed class send their children to secular private schools on a Nordic model. This is somewhat analogous to cracking down on one particular church’s parochial schools in America.

Anyone know much about this cleric in exile in Pennsylvania?

Also...

Will these students be routed into officially secular state schools or to other private Islamic schools?

I wish there was one ongoing Turkey Thread. I keep posting stuff on different threads and there are so many. Mad Erdog wants to have killing fields.

Gulen is JUST AS BAD as Erdog. Islamist. Not secularist, not moderate. They're rivals. Gulen wasn't behind the coup. Erdog no doubt set it up himself to be able to purge anyone not a jihadist Erdog follower. It's not just Gulen schools (if there are any), it appears to be all schools.

Certainly the academic crackdown is widespread and alarming. Turks write a lot of the papers and perform a lot of the studies that we use here on a day to day basis. Our office chat software has basically turned into ‘Learning Turkish Simulator 2016’ since the coup. But the secular schools attached to the moneyed class haven’t been touched from what I can understand. It’s only the academics attached to Islamic schools that are talking about being targeted. Some arrests have started. That wasn’t in this article.

I”ve been following this obsessively.

See the graphic I just posted. There is much torture going on. It will a blood bath of anyone Mad Erdog considers “enemies”. Rape and carnage will be beyond imagining. Edrog is a rabid beast and it’s a shame no one has killed him yet.
