Follow the link and read the statement from Meredith McIver, who helped Melania write this speech.

I'd post it here but it's in PDF form and I can't cut and paste. But follow the link, it's a quick read and it should make all those who making such a fuss over this feel like jerks.

I see this was posted elsewhere. I’ll let the mods decide if they want to remove this thread (or remove from breaking news).

I'm willing to bet that Melania has better table manners...

The only part that reflects a little badly on Melania is that she is reported to admire Mooch. I don’t share that sentiment.

It's out of context...means nothing....

Admires what??? Her hair, her posture, her nails, her speaking abilities?

July 20, 2016 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

My name is Meredith McIver and I'm an in-house staff writer at the Trump Organization. I am also a longtime friend and admirer of the Trump family.

In working with Melania Trump on her recent First Lady speech, we discussed many people who inspired her and messages she wanted to share with the American people. A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama. Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama's speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama's speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.

Yesterday, I offered my resignation to Mr. Trump and the Trump family, but they rejected it, Mr. Trump told me that people make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences.

I asked to put out this statement because I did not like seeing the way this was distracting from Mr. Trump's historic campaign for president and Melania's beautiful message and presentation.

I apologize for the confusion and hysteria my mistake has caused. Today, more than ever, I am honored to work for such a great family. I personally admire the way Mr. Trump has handled this situation and I am grateful for his understanding.

Sincerely,

Meredith McIver

Thanks for posting it. I hadn’t see it yet.

Very classy on each of their parts, Trump, and this woman.

This woman would have been fired by anyone else. Trump realized she made a mistake, and now so does she. She won’t do it again. That’s good enough for me.

It was rather innocent. No intent was there to harm anyone or take unfair advantage.

This is all the press could come up with. Poor things...

I watched a little of ABC news this morning and it looks like the MSM is about to declare a state of emergency to exist within the MSM over Melania’s speech.

I think Melania is just being nice. She definitely doesn't want to compound the controversy for her husband by stating how she REALLY feels. Just my opinion. It will be nice to have a First Lady who will stay out of politics and let her elected husband do the job of president.

It's been an annoying trend having the First Ladies assume that they are "co-president". They are not.

It another stake in the heart of the lie that the Trump family are uncaring bigots. Brilliance!

Here is the part that doesn’t ring true”

“Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant. “

If she wrote them down, she knew it was from Michelle’s speech. She didn’t need to check the speech to know she was plagiarizing the speech- like the exact 23 word string in the speech.

Yes, politicians do it all the time. Right or wrong to do it is a judgement call.

..the bottom line is ..she did it. It is ridiculous for people to try to cover for obvious plagiarism like so many did on this site.

Hillary lies through her teeth habitually. The MSM constantly lies. And they make a fuss over this???

Hypocrisy doesn’t even come close to describing the Lying Left.

Looked for Meredith McIver, and she has "co-written" five or so of Trump's books. She joined the Trump organization in 9/2001, so probably during 9/11.

I may be wrong, but I think she is African American. That is her (from as far as I can tell) on the left in this picture. But there just isn't a lot out there to source that I can find.

Meredith McIver on left
