Conservatives to Cruz: Time to back Trump
Politico ^ | July 20, 2016 | Katie Glueck |

Even some diehard loyalists say he needs to set aside lingering bitterness and get behind the GOP nominee.

They volunteered for Ted Cruz, gave him campaign money and still adore the Texas senator.

But now it’s time, say even some of his longtime loyalists, for Cruz to finally endorse Donald Trump.

Cruz, who will address the Republican National Convention on Wednesday, remains one of the GOP’s most prominent holdouts, refusing to back his presidential primary rival even as most other Trump critics have come around — if only with their noses plugged.

Cruz supporter here. Time to back Trump.

And tonight he will throw his full support behind Trump. Everything else we are hearing and reading is noise to keep the campaign in disarray and Conservative supporters home in November.

If Cruz is a good politician, he’ll give the endorsement speech of his life. It would be all good. He’d win respect from Trump supporters, help unify the Party, and show himself to be above petty jabs of a political campaign. In a word, he’d be setup to run for President again in 8 years, if he chose to. After all, he’s not that old.

Conversely, if he gets all petty and vindictive, he’s going to microwave his own goose. What would that serve? He would come across as a sore loser and he’d aid the Hillary camp by fomenting dissent in his party. That uuuge chunk of Trump voter would never vote for him in the future.

I cannot at all understand someone who puts their own career and feelings ahead of the future of our entire country.

Cruz is enslaved to his emotions and has demonstrated he is unworthy of my vote.

Nice analysis. I’ll wait until tomorrow to hear reports of which path he chose.

Ted Cruz fooled me...twice. Shame on me. Not listening to him anymore.

Which Cruz will show up? The “too cute by half” Cruz, the attack dog Cruz, or the Douche Bag Cruz?

A great Cruz speech would be an incredibly well-written anti-GOPe, anti-RINO, pro-Trump and pro-America rallying cry for unity. He’s pretty much done politically but he could go out with style.

I’m thinking Trump doesn’t believe Cruz will deliver very many votes, if any, so he’s going to give Cruz one last nail to drive into his own coffin. Two years from now he’ll be an asterisk.

Walker reminds Cruz of unity pledge
CLEVELAND — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on Wednesday invoked the pledge Ted Cruz took to support the GOP nominee, a reminder of that commitment that comes hours before Cruz addresses the Republican National Convention that is coronating his bitter primary rival, Donald Trump.

Mark Levin has become irrelevant. Just like a turd in toilet, it is best to flush it down and forget. If enough of us do that, he won’t be on the air too long.

An apology and strong endorsement
would stop his descent -— until the next ObamaTRADE bill.

I believe he will give a great speech and endorse Trump. It will make a lot of conservatives mad but I don’t care, I am as conservative as they are but you can’t have everything so I will take somethings with the Hidabeast you get nothing you want.

Regardless of what Cruz might say or what the future may hold, there is no way that I would ever be able to vote for this insane liar.

Lyn’ Loon Cruz is mentally ill and he should never be allowed to hold ANY office of public trust.

Am I too off by saying that this seems like a big old set-up?

No one gives a speech without it being vetted. So it isnt like the RNC and Trump doesn’t know what he will say, and they are just playing this up to get people to talk about it.

Let Cruz keep his endorsement. To do something begrudgingly means you really don’t want to do it. This is ridiculous. SMH.

Trump is a showman, and his meeting with Cruz may have been to set this up. Lots of rumors about Cruz and what he will say, and lots of interest and then BOOM! Cruz shows up with a stemwinder supporting Trump. Lots of deflated media types very sad, Republicans energized, party united.

This is one possibility. The other is that Cruz is tepid the way Pence endorsed him, and continues to be a sore loser. I'm done with Cruz either way, but I may support his continued career in the senate if he chooses the former option.

Agreed. He'll endorse. It would be stupid not to.

I’m content with whatever Cruz decides to do. Support or don’t, makes no difference to me. I’m confident that those who hold out hope for Cruz will make the right choice come November, and those who are fixed in the #nevertrump camp won’t strike tents with an endorsement by Ted unless it is incredibly convincing.

I suspect he’ll talk about a strong conservative senate, maybe some nice words about Pence and call it a day.

At the end of it all, Ted’s next run at the Oval Office would be 16 to 20 years from now if Trump wins. Those are some bitter ashes to eat in contemplating just how close he came.

Another former Cruzer here.

He had better get on the Trump Train tonight, period.

If he doesn’t, he might as well volunteer to be Hillary’s Vice President.
