You’re probably right about that. I think that leaked news was a cause of a lot of anger against him (although, as you probably know, a lot of people already thought he was a hypocrite only looking out for himself before the speech).
I heard that rumor too, but I have to say I really thought he would at least say something like, “...And that is why we must defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall.” I would have accepted even that with no mention of Trump as a kind-of, sort-of fulfillment of his pledge and his word. I blew a gasket when he almost did the opposite, after Trump gave him the honor and privilege of allowing him on this big stage. And we should all remember, Cruz is someone who praised Trump to the hilt several times last year. So no one can possibly delude themselves that what he did was “principled.”
Boo-TED
I agree. He didn't pledge to "endorse" the nominee. But, he did pledge to "support" the nominee. That was pretty weak "support".
I'd been hearing rumors all week about Cruz delegates walking out. For a minute there, at the end of Ted's speech, I thought he was trying to get them to do that. THAT, is NOT support. I wouldn't be shocked if some of them do it tonight.
There's just nothing good about last night for Ted. Trump schooled him, used him, and tossed him aside. Trump gave him a chance to unify. Ted chose suicide.
