The £43m-a-year President, his 'shopaholic' wife and their £2,000 per roll silk wallpaper in the bathroom: Inside Turkey tyrant's £500million palace... so dripping in gold 'it would have even made Saddam blush'

Turkey President Recep Erdogan has £139million fortune and three palaces

Wife is known for her love of luxury shopping trips and antique collecting

She caused chaos by closing a Brussels shopping centre for retail therapy

And in Warsaw she spent £37,000 on some antiques in one splurge alone

She claims to live a 'humble and modest' life with strict Muslim values, whiling away the hours in palace kitchen fermenting apples and turning them into vinegar.

But while her tyrant husband President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has amassed a £139million fortune with at least three palaces across Turkey, his 'shopaholic' wife Emine likes nothing more than spending money.

Emine Erdogan's jet-set lifestyle is a whirlwind of one shopping trip after another where her particular passions are designer clothes and expensive antiques.

As a quarter of her country live in extreme poverty and almost two million live on just £3 a day, the president's wife boasts she drinks specialist white tea at £1,500 a kilo… and drinks it from gold leaf glasses worth £250 each.

She once closed down a shopping mall in Brussels to go on a designer shopping spree and while accompanying her husband on an official visit to Warsaw in Poland blew through more than £37,000 while browsing an antiques bazaar.

Any items she found would no doubt be needed for the huge palace Erdogan has constructed in the foothills outside the Turkish capital Ankara.

A nice third-world country we have here. After reading this, I feel sorry that I had such a harsh view on Marcos. Well, his wife imelda was a shopaholic, too. But she only had three thousands shoes.:-)

These so-called devout Islamist rulers make me ill. Their vanity and material greed certainly exceed their professed religious faith.

I think people misread Erdogan. He’s not really an Islamic enthusiast.....he simply uses them as part of his overall strategy. When you look at the background, he’s into crony-capitalism. He helps to manufacture deals, which benefit friends and associates. He’s been doing this since the late 90’s when he was mayor of Istanbul.

Most everything he does....has some element of capitalism and corruption tied to it. If you look at some of the 20,000 he has arrested or fired over the past four days....there’s a large number of finance ministry audit and accountant folks. He’ll flip his own people into the positions and redouble efforts on his cronyism strategy.

Capital idea!

Although it probably would have been less painful to have been blown out of the sky the other morning enroute to Istanbul. I mean, one moment, smooth air on the Gulfstream IV, next instant, boom!

Erdogan's flight path from his vacation spot to Istanbul.

Sadly, whoever had the finger on the trigger chickened out.

My mother used to say, pigs get fat, but hogs get slaughtered. Putin is one of, if not the, richest man in Europe. The Clintons have amassed over $200,000,000 since leaving the White House. True, most of it is in their “foundation” but they simply write checks from the foundation to cover their expenses. I read they bought their New York house with a check from the foundation. Thought that was illegal. (Oh, wait, laws are for little people.)

Bingo.

He is an Islamofascist. Full stop. Watch the streets of Istamnbul run red with blood as Erdogan continues to allow trafic through Turkey of refugees to Europe in the Obama demographic war done in post colonial revenge, and allowing flow of jihadists terrorist from the west to train and fight , and return to the West to kill innocent people.

Erdogan is indeed a fascist. If the military had succeeded in stopping Erdogan, all of that traffic would have stopped and the genocidal fruits of Obama’s Arab Spring would no longer harm Europe or the West. The upper echelons of the Turkish military were trained in the USA. They do not like Erdogan on bit, and want democracy for their country.I hope next time they get rid of Erdogan, the Islamofascist dictator who is now crucial to the continuing poisoning of the West.

My prediction is that Putin will have him assassinated.

Am I the only one who saw this, read the first few lines, and assumed it was the current occupants of the White House they were talking about?

Oh, that traffic to European kinda stopped when Merkel convinced the EU back in Mar/Apr to funnel a deal involving 3 billion Euro to Turkey, consider all Turks for free-visa entry into the EU, and review another application for membership in the EU. The roughly 100,000 refugees a month that walked yearly from Greece up to Bavaria....has trickled down to roughly 5,000 refugees (most travel via Italy now).

Again, it demonstrates....for 3 billion Euro for 2016....Erdogan was willing to deal. Probably over half of the money is going toward support the refugees within Turkey but with special friends selling services, food, shelter, etc at inflated prices. All....in the name of crony capitalism.

There was a building in Istanbul last year....in the final stages of completion which had been approved in the late 1990s by him for construction. The building code in Istanbul had a height limit written up in the 1980s....which this building exceeded in an extreme way. As this kept getting brought up....the project started, and went on for several years. When finally completed....the court stepped in and has ordered finally the destruction of the building for code violation. The deal? All started for a crony buddy of his.

Thought that was illegal. (Oh, wait, laws are for little people.)

The Director of the FBI said so.

If you are ever called upon to assist the FBI (or any other enforcement arm of the USG), please keep that in mind.

My God!
Reading the headline, my first thought was,
What set the Daily Mail after Barack and Michelle?

Then I read the first paragraph and realised that it was only
Recep and Emine Erdogan.
But I did learn something. Washington and Ankara are really not all that different. Are they?

“If you are ever called upon to assist the FBI (or any other enforcement arm of the USG), please keep that in mind. “

I dealt with FBI agents sometimes several times a year for twenty years. My impression was that most of them were upstanding, professional, competent men. This all had to do with security and maintaining secrecy. I was never the subject of an investigation or involved in investigations.

After the Martha Stewart affair, I did some research. An FBI agent can lie to you and that’s legal. If you tell them a lie, it is a federal crime. (I believe that is why Martha went to prison. Not for insider trading.) Here’s how they nail you. Two agents interview you. One asks questions and the other takes notes. When they get back the note-taker writes up the notes in a form. That becomes the only and unimpeachable record. If he gets something wrong, or words it so that he draws a conclusion but says you said that, then either you lied then or you are lying now when you say it isn’t true. Since you can’t believe anything a federal agent from any agency says, your only option when asked about anything is to get a lawyer. Your lawyer (hopefully) will insist on recording the interview, which is not allowed by FBI rules. So, no interview, but you were 100% cooperative.

Erdogan is also a rabid antisemite hater of Israel. He’s earning some divine curses points along the way.
