It's heart breaking that Americans have gotten used to our cities looking like this.
When “boy wonder” Kucinich took it to the dumper back in the late 70s, I headed for the exit.
It's because of what Trump has been saying -- industry and manufacturing has left the country. People who couldl least afford to bounce back were clustered around where the jobs once were. Now look.
We have had systemic corruption for decades. Feds raided our county gov’t and hauled off two of the three Commissioners to prison. We now have a County gov’t with a lazy manager (Armond Budish) who hides from the public and we have Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams who took the jobs nobody wanted in trying to turn the corner.
Meanwhile, a stealth apparatus in gov’t waiting for the day things get back to normal (i.e., corruption). We are making our way back, but nobody wanted to invest in a city that was run like Moscow.
You should have seen us five years ago.
Jackson and Williams are a fantastic pair and the future of our city. They are great leaders, and I am a very tough critic. Was never a fan until I saw how he vanquished Black Lives Matters and the Cavs championship parties.
I am full on cheerleader now.
